Continual Psychosis / Auditory Hallucinations

I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective disorder ten years ago.

I’ve been on several anti psychotics such as Seroquel, Invega, Haldol.

I have had periods where I didn’t hear voices, but it was when I wasn’t on anti-psychotics.

I’m currently on Clozaril.

I still hear voices, 24/7.

I’ve heard command hallucinations as well as some visual hallucinations.

I need advice on what to do now; either with medication or therapy, please.

I’m out of options as to how to battle the auditory and visual hallucinations.
I thought the Clozaril would have been effective.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my message.
Have a wonderful day.

Wow Clozaril for me was the ONLY med that did the trick for me. I initially tried about 4 or 5 without luck

Maybe your psychiatrist can make a combo to help get those hallucinations away?

Have you talked to your pdoc about this? May need an adjunct medication. I take Clozapine as well, but I also take Ziprasidone as an adjunct medication. Together they work very well for me.

Zyprexa turned my mean voices into nice voices. They still are distracting but no longer viciously bully me any more. No other antipsychotic did that for me, and I spent a couple of years trying different medications before landing on this one.

Maybe you could hang out with somebody or talk on the phone. That might stop the voices.

I tried Zyprexa too! Only bad for me is I gained weight, and fast!

I am glad you found what works for you! I Wish my voices were nice when I had my episode.

I gained twenty pounds and my bloodwork says I’m pre diabetic, could be the zyprexa but changing from coke to water might help, I’m just not sure if I have the self control to do that.

I experience too many side effects on a combo.

May I ask what the brand name for Ziprasidone is? is that Zyprexa?

I’ll look into Zyprexa again; thank you.

Jake, I’ll try contacting someone by phone, thank you.

Im just curious have the voices always been a problem since diagnosed? I asked because i initially didnt have many hallucinations but each episode seems to give me more hallucinations and for longer.

The voices have been with me, since diagnosed.

Sorry, the brand name is Geodon. I’m a nurse and we have to use generic names to avoid confusion when giving out drugs.

Ah @Sezbot241 I’ve tried that; but it was years ago.
