How do i know if im delusional

If my belief is not proveable to be real or not beyond “common sense” how would i know for certain?

I mean we discover things about reality all the time that seem bizarre.

Probably bounce your thoughts off others would be a good first step.

Look at the definition of delusion. Something like, “A fixed belief that can not be shaken despite good evidence to the contrary.” If the majority or a lot of people would label your belief delusional and provide good evidence that’s it’s delusional yet you still believe it then you’re probably delusional about that belief.

@Bowens my fiance thinks its a delusion and i get why its a common belief amongst schizophrenics to believe someone is xontrolling your mind and emotions

Like @Bowens said, run it by a few people and a therapist or psychiatrist. They should be able to tell you if it’s delusional or not.

Idk why but its really freaking me out at the idea that i could be delusional

I guess it makes me feel dangerous somehow

I have no udges to be violent, the exact opposite but i feel on edge. I saw an article earlier of a schizophrenic woman who killed her daughter in an episode.

The balance I walk with that is: Does believing it impact your life or decisions in a disruptive way? Does your belief make you avoid things you need/want to do, or make you do things that take up far too much of your time so you end up not being able to accomplish the other things you need?

If it gets in the way, it is a symptom that needs to be managed. If it’s just a background thought, it’s fine. Everyone has a few weird, unproveable beliefs.
