How do you guys know what is Real and what is delusion? Im having a hard time about it… Help and advice please
I like to think of it as this way, Did ‘it’ come to you? or Did you go to ‘it’?
Things that are real come to me, and doesn’t go away to easy.
Things that are questionable, well, I seem to find on my own.
What I do is act like some random stranger came up and told me that belief. If I think they’re ill/wouldn’t believe them then the thought is probably delusional.
One way to test a delusional belief is to ask yourself, ‘can it be doubted?’. If I cannot then it would be an authoritarian idea which imposes itself upon you and everything else. Most of the things we think about have many subtleties which make it possible to subject them to further questioning. Delusions don’t have this nuance. Instead, they are very often fixed and tyrannical.
Ideas in our minds should float around as untethered balloons do in the sky. Delusional beliefs are weighted down like lead and so do not move in this way.
I have a crazy idea that people get addicted to delusions.
I suffer from lack of insight. So when I get ill, I just can’t tell the difference.
