How did you get disability?

I am in Canada, not US.

That sucks. If you’re unable to work and they think you do.

My disability was temporarily approved until end 2023. They think I might be able to work in the long term. Right now it’s optional to work and I’m going to try in September but I don’t have to.

Yea I definitively can’t work now on Risperidone. The only times I was able to work although short term was when I was on Latuda or Abilify. My life quality sucked on these meds though.

I think if I wait a few years or maybe until next year they will see that I didn’t work for a long time and will then let me go on disability.

I think it also helps to have had multiple hospitalizations. A report from your pdoc mentioning that with the diagnosis ‘schizophrenia’.

maybe, but I never had any hospitalizations at the time of diagnosis.
got approved right away. no lawyer needed.

I didn’t work for a year when I applied. I got it 3 months after I applied. I’m in the US. But I had both mental and physical illness.

I can’t remember things and I have a hard time thinking through things, and I’m told that with high dose meds I’m still psychotic.

Idk, you don’t seem fully psychotic here. Its up to your dr.

That’s what I’m told too. That I have residuals. Will have to learn to live with them and be able to work.

they’re breakthrough something, right?
I don’t get much at all on meds.

It’s similar. I permanently hear voices even on the max dose of Invega. But it’s not all the time and it doesn’t distress/distract me too much.

Under stress I get mild delusions like believing my voices are real and telepathy. But nothing too strange.

I hope that answers your question.

I’m not sure that it’s a good idea to talk her out of the conclusion that she has come to about her beliefs on certain things. Her current insight into her condition is a good thing IMO. Her previous beliefs that they were real was much less healthy, IMO. I will agree that she has some insight and is generally very stable and reliable on issues outside those beliefs though.

My dr didn’t say it was residual. She said I’m still experiencing psychosis.

Sorry to talk about you like you were not here @LilyoftheValley . I did not realize that you were on. I agree, go with what your doctor says.

I have to hide my camera on my phone when I work out so the men don’t watch me and comment on my workouts. I don’t leave the house alone because I need witnesses and protection to keep me safe. I have cameras in my house they watch me from, etc. that’s why my dr says I’m still experiencing psychosis.

@Aziz you can’t tell strangers on the internet whether they have psychosis or not

I didn’t know it was your Dr who said that. Sorry.

It’s ok @Aziz . No harm done. I’m not upset at all.

I think your faith in your doctors is great and rare during psychosis @LilyoftheValley . I would not have believed a thing my doctors said about my condition while still in psychosis, and I think it’s a good thing and will hopefully help you in the long term.
