House vs hospital

i wish they had treated me out with hospital as i think the whole hospital experience didnt help me, maybe it did but idk,

do you think its better to stay at home or go to hospital if you are unwell?

Depends I guess… Do you have meds? If so and you have a doctor you can visit then maybe home if its less stressful. Where would you rather stay?

I think it’s better to stay at a hospital. Then you can get away from your environment that causes you so much distress.

I think house is best, freedom to go out, better food, and better company

I’m wondering the same thing.

If you’re always at home and you need recovery staying at home won’t be any different for recovery then you’re normal day to day life. If you’re really sick you need a different environment

Sometimes you just need a vacation, even if the vacation has a chaperone.

Home with a higher dose of meds.
Had a horrible experience in the hospital.

My friend and his wife visited me the other day.She said that he wants to go to hospital for a month to “rest”.It was a stupidest thing I’ve heard. He’s been already in and out for six months each year since I met him.

Ive only been to the hospital twice. The initial visit made my psychosis worse. Though i guess it was better then going to random places of worship to tell the wizards about how the end of times was starting.

The second time i went, i accidently od on my meds by about 5 times the dose. I kept taking more meds to get rid of the voices.

Then they tried to put me in the psychward for observation but it was full.

I prefer the house, i dont like being hooked up to machines and peeing in cups. Needles etc. Its all so eww.

If you feel so bad, then it’s better to go to hospital.

They need to do observation, specially if you start taking high dose of AP. Side effects like dystonia and others could be serious…they need you to stay in hospital

@Wave When i was sectioned same experience horrible hopefully never again!

It depends on how unwell you are. If you are just a little anxious do coping methods to deal with it. If you haven’t slept in 3 nights, the voices are unbearable, or if you feel like a danger to yourself or others go to the hospital.

I always feel i recover better at home. Theres never any beds in this part of the world anyway. When im unwell - they just increase my meds and the crisis team visits me at home every day.

They are pretty good when i tell them im suffering and let me dose myself up to recover at home in bed.

Ive got to be near dying physically or mentallly before i go near a hospital. And touch wood - ive been admission free for a number of years now.

I prefer the hospital for recovery. Takes some of the pressure off me. I don’t have to worry about cleaning and cooking and shopping

I would definitely go to a hospital. I have extreme self-harm urges when I am ill. About 3 years ago, I tried to cut my head open (which is not possible, I was really delusional/psychotic) because I hated myself. So I was taken to the hospital, which I really wanted to go because I felt like I was going crazy. After couple hours of trying to hit my head on the wall, I was somehow feeling better.

Yeah…definitely hospital on my case.

I hate the hospital, it amplifies my anxiety and depression, but I do see the benefits of being there, it’s safe, and they can do the best
Medication management.

I prefer to be home, and in an PHP or IOP situation when things go bad. That way I can sleep in my own bed, still have some management, and therapy

I’ve only ever been hospitalized when I either couldn’t care for myself properly or I was a threat to myself. Staying at home was not an option. I’ve not been hospitalized for head issues in about a decade or more (having trouble remembering year, to be honest), but have been in for gall bladder, heart, etc., in the past decade. Find hospitals boring as hell and not having my kitchen goodies at hand (crepe, espresso makers) just plain pisses me off.

In an ideal world psych wards would serve crepes, espressos, have WiFi, Netflix, purring kitties, and wall the weird patients who won’t leave you alone off from everyone else.

I think if you’re struggling mentally it all depends on the quality of community care as to whether being at home is the better option. Sometimes though however good the community care is a person may need to be hospitalised.
