Do you want to go to the hospital?

Sometimes I want to go live in the hospital because it is easier.

I have moments where I give up and would rather be in some kind of institutional setting. like Medicaid approved assisted living or even an institution. sometimes the world is a bit much and locked doors seem better to me.

so yes. sometimes I don’t mind a hospital stay. haven’t been in a hospital for 2 years though.

Thank you for responding @Lifer. It’s nice to know someone understands.

In the last couple months I had a particularly bad spot where I got taken to the emergency room 3 times. I just about begged them to take me to the hospital but they wouldn’t. I had to figure out what was wrong with my medication on my own. But otherwise no when I’m doing well I want anything but the hospital, the hospital has always been very traumatic for me.

I’m sorry the hospital has been traumatic for you. I’m also sorry they didn’t take you in when you felt you needed help.

I spent part of last October, most of November, and part of December in two hospitals. I needed to be there at the time. I am better now. My plan is to take my ap and antidepressant and not go back.

Good plan @Sunlit!

I long for the relatively stress free environment of the hospital when I am not doing well. When I feel all that weight down on me I know it’s a safe place to be where I can’t kill myself. So yes, at times, I want to go to the hospital.

Thank you for sharing @Leaf. This is where I’m at. It’s strange when the hospital seems like a good option.

I’d go if I got to pick the hospital. I’m told I’m stuck with the same one since they bill medicare, and it’s a really crappy hospital two hours’ drive to the south. It literally is the worst hospital I’ve ever been in. The local ones are kinda nice. Fortunately a voluntary stay at crisis care works just as well and is very nice. I often stayed in crisis care as long as possible because I just liked the food and the company.

Every morning at Crisis Care I would be the first guy awake and down at the kitchen at 6 AM, eating my hard-boiled egg and cereal and waiting for smoke break. Usually there was good conversation during the smoke breaks, too,

Sometimes. But only if I get to choose the hospital, doctors, and nurses. I’ve had too many bad experiences with staff.

I’m sorry you aren’t doing well. There’s nothing wrong with going if you need to. Maybe you should give your pdoc a call. Feel better.

The hospital is the most boring place on the planet. I hate it. The first few times the other patients were nice and talked to each other, it was like a little community.

All the other times it hasn’t been like that at all.

No I don’t want to go back to the hospital, but I wouldn’t mind going to live in a nursing home. I can’t do that just yet, because I’m still functioning on my own. I’ll be 60 years old May 26th.

It’s definitely less responsibility in a hospital, so that’s appealing. But also less freedom and sometime my fellow patients do not want to co-cooperate when I want peace and quiet. They misunderstand me and they think my greatest wish is to be screamed at and frightened. But there is a tiny bit of nostalgia when I think back on some of my hospitalizations. Hell, where else can I wear pajamas in public in front of a bunch of strangers and they think it’s perfectly OK? So that aspect was appealing too.

Oh no! I thoroughly hated it there and always made sure i was outside as soon and as much as i was allowed. Even just to roam the streets. It is my least favourite place of all places.

My mum recently said she wanted me in assisted living with 24/7 supervision. Luckily my nurse said: thats nonsense, they will think you come to apply for a job.

I would pity the poor souls needing to live with me too…it genuinely feels like captivity to me…which makes me very unpleasant to be around. Im kind of the outlier in this though…many others there didnt seem to have that same sense of crushed freedom.

Not necessarily hospital but there a place thats called the intermediate stay thats lovely alot more freedom than hospital with real coffee and a smoking area but they only keep you for six weeks and its hard to get in plus a waiting list if u do, i want to go again later this year or early next but have to stay well enough not to have to get sent to the acute unit cause its awful there and they are really strict.

Hospitals in India can be really bad. And the care homes are even worse. The care home I was put in for 4 months when I had a bad psychosis had no running water for first 2 months, squat toilets without lockable doors and staff who didnt speak English.

@LED
I am track with this! Some hospitals and staff are not as nice as others!

@Leaf
Thank you. I’m really trying to stick it out.

@Joker
It is very boring. That’s how I know I’m not doing well, when I’d rather be there than out.

Happy almost Birthday!

@77nick77
Yes, you definitely don’t hand pick the other patients! Sometimes it’s very disruptive and threatening!

@anon73478309
I used to hate it, too, and I’ve always left as soon as I could. That’s how I know I’m unwell because I’m wanting it. I’m glad your nurse spoke up to your mom! She’s just concerned for you is all.

@Imaganitve
That’s neat there’s a place to heal and find relief, a break, a respite. I hope you can go!

@Qwerty
I’m sorry you had a bad experience or experiences.

@Vasu_Devan1
That’s much different than here in the States! I’m sorry you don’t have access to better care.
