High functioning SZA

My psychiatrist decided to keep the bipolar diagnosis for me but my therapist who is an administrator for a popular state psychiatric hospital diagnosed me with schizoaffective disorder.
She feels that I have excellent insight for someone with a schizo diagnosis and that I’m high functioning.

I tend to agree with the SZA dx over the bipolar dx.

Oh well it’s all so confusing.

I’m DX’d sza depressive type. Past DX’s include OCD, MDD psychosis, borderline personality disorder, and paranoid personality disorder

I think this one fits best

I think the one that stung the most was BPD. They basically told me that I was making it all up for attention and discontinued my meds

Yeah that’s a hard diagnosis and they slap it on too many people I feel like. My ex had bpd. It’s a truly painful disorder. I feel for them

Whats the difference? Dont both have psychosis?

In bipolar the psychosis is only when in a mood episode. In sza you have psychosis in mood and also without mood symptoms.

That’s awful! I’m happy you’re officially a fellow schizophrenic now.

When I first become know to MH services the first pdoc said I had BPD. I was depressed and told her I felt empty inside = to her BPD.

They do treat you different with that diagnosis.

To be completely honest, I think she made up her mind before she even set foot in the interview room. Like, the questions she was asking me were super leading, trying to funnel me towards what she already suspected.

I have had anxiety my whole life it just manifests in different ways as time goes on my mind is always changing but it’s always my mind. And anxiety is inevitable on a daily basis
