Hello All,
I’m new here. So, it’s been at least 3 weeks of Perphenazine 24mg and latuda 120mg, when does it finally start to work? Voices, hallucinations and visuals are still present and veryyyyyy overwhelming
Have already been on zyprexa and abilify
clozapine caused too many side effects. should I ask for a med change or do I give it another week? TIA!

It can take up to 6 weeks to get to a therapeutic dose of the medicine. I went through 3 APs before I found risperidone

Have you noticed any improvement at all? If so, I’d wait it out for another 3 to 5 weeks. If not, I’d contact your pdoc and see what they say.

Perp 24mg and latuda 120mg are therapeutic doses. May I know which APs didn’t work? Tried risperidone in the beginning but not long enough to know if it works.
Not wth positive symptoms. Just more alert, I guess. Don’t really have negs, but crying because I’m desperate.
I was on olanzapine, haldol and seroquel, they did absolutely nothing for me. the haldol made me stiff as a board and I slept all day, worst medicine ever. I upd my dose of risperidone to 6mg at the beginning of December and only got any benefit in mid January. You should see if you can go back on it?

Thanks! Invega is supposed to be like risperidone. I’m going to ask doc about both
Cool
. I think I’ll try either invega, goudon or Latuda if risperidone stops working

Do you experience both negative and positive? And are you only on risperidone?
I have absolutely no negs, I never had. I haven’t had any positives for the last 6! Weeks,it’s the longest I’ve gone without any voices since before my psychotic break, it’s so peaceful.that’s not to say that they might come back tomorrow though which they always do. Don’t worry you WILL get a break as wel it’s just hard to believe when your in the middle of it. Much love

Clozapine is what you turn to when other meds don’t work. It’s good stuff. I’m glad I’m on it.

I have to apologize. I didn’t realize you had Clozpine in the original comment. It’s good stuff though. Hope you find something that works.

Thank you, me too! I wish it was a one size fits all. Taking all these different pills is def frustrating, especially in high doses and not doing anything! Sorry, since I’m a new member, my posting has limits.

What have you heard of Seroquel? A couple of people here are on it.
I have, I think seroquel and invega will be what I suggest on Monday. I’m going to give it a few more days so that the doctor doesn’t complain about me not giving it enough time. But i should see some improvements being on high doses of two APs in 3-4 weeks, right?

I think to feel the full effect of the meds you have to be on it for 2 months.
