skyrim is crap… the draw distance just lets you see how small AND empty the world is… about the dragon priest masks and labyrinthian are the only cool new things in it…
everything else was better in oblivion… spellbreaker… azura’s star… umbra…
or try this… having single cast spells tuned into the gameplay having their own button… or dual cast spells that you never use cause you still want to have that sword equipped… same goes for dual wielding weapons …
oblivion sword+shield+spell equipped is possible… try that in skyrim… it’s kind of the ultimatum…
■■■■ the dawnguard and ■■■■ that crappy solstheim expansion…
it is an improved and optimized engine… but it lacked content… it was the product of years experimenting and them wanting to show that they are trying to improve their tech… unfortunately it seems that stole their focus…
god damn norse mythology rippoff shiite with dragons is far less interesting than oblivions daedric realms which are much more relevant to the total cannon and environment of the elder scrolls…
I do think they’ll get the next one right… but if you think skyrim was that much better you’re over looking a lot of what oblivion had… let me make the list…
Improvements in skyrim…
Better draw distance (at the expense of objects on screen)
dual wielding system (still can’t fucken hold two shields [why would oyu want to IDK… but why the hell not… you can attack with them after all… Elder scrolls paladin mod… anyways])…
magic dual cast just means the nerfed the single cast spells
smithing… raw materials to weapons… that’s new… played skyrim for hundreds of hours and never used that ■■■■ but twice… enchanting is where it is at and you’ll find oblivion has a much more extensive enchanting system…
the cut weapon repair… I’m kind of indifferent about that… but in oblivion when you finally get to level 75 all the sudden every object you take a hammer too gets a 25% in its base stats…
soul charging and all that is the same…
skyrims skill tree is just an expansion where you select from the same crap you just earn linearly in oblivion…
oh yeah athletics and acrobatics are still skills… your character can eventually run faster and jump higher aside from skyrims begining to end bs (they did it to make environmental design easier)
well man… there is a lot more… but I’m going to move onto what made morrowind great… which is not much aside from…
spears
throwing stars
shirt+robe+armor+10 rings+ so much equipped at once…
unarmored used to be a skill… no armor at all… just like unarmed… was a good way to go…
but all that equipment + enchantments… ah so much strategy and dominance there…
skyrim was soooo ■■■■■■■ boring… and we all know it… visually impressive at first… but it’s like the halo 2 of the TES series… just kind shitty… sets the standard for mass appeal… but still kind of shitty…
oblivion was halo 1 and morrowind was some tech demo… so it goes…
if you liked skyrim… power to you… but uhh trust me man I’ve been hacking and modding and watching this series for over a decade… I own all three… I have no bias about it… oblvion is the winner… go find frost crags spire in skyrim… (they’ve already discontinued producing dlc for it)… oblivion has an abundance of addons… only one noteable compatability glitch… but even that can be mixed by changing load order…
lets hope the next one beats them all… but I’m sorry dude… skyrim is so lonely and bleak and shallow… there is no depth or investment in any characters…
in morrowind you are some nobody prisoner… be who you want to be was the premise…
same in oblivion
skyrim is this nearly schizo[hrenic grandiose ■■■■■■■■ they put on you to be the savior of anything and everything from some stupid dragon that is only mentioned in skyrim lore…
