Help me decide

When my husband gave me my pills last night I hid them instead of taking them. Im so sick of taking pills. Today I plan on taking my blood pressure pill and hiding everything else. I just want to see how Im doing. Perhaps I dont need all those meds now. Am I really messing up or do you know how I feel? I take six meds for SzA, lexapro, rexulti, saphris, cogentin, ativan and topamax. Im sick of it. I just want to save my liver and kidneys.

Yes, quite badly.

I know how you feel, but it will end badly, always does

Yes the meds are bad but psychosis is worse and it will destroy your brain sooner than the meds would destroy your liver.

I’m just so sick of being tired and fat

The pills are there to help, i wonder if you can notice the difference they make. I take my pills generally out of fear of the consequences of not taking them including depression, mania, and most particularly loud voices in my head. If you’re sick of being tired i might recommend Modafinil, and as for being fat do some cardio. Don’t you worry about the consequences of not taking your meds? You’re on them for a reason.

Maybe it would help if you asked your husband if HE notices a difference they make? That always motivates me to continue taking them when I need a break from taking so many pills.

@tera. Any changes in meds or med dosages should be discussed with and monitored by your pdoc.

I tried just coming off Latuda with my doctor. Still take 4 other meds too. Made it about 5 days.

Back on it.

Will keep the extra 40 pounds and the occasional ED.

thank you all for encouraging me to do what we all know I should do. I do this frequently because it seems so preposterous that I need 100 pills every five seconds. But I know there is a reason to take them. So I took them. Thanks

oh and I came clean with my hubby so hes on alert and watching to make sure I don’t hide them. If I kept hiding them I likely would go bad and take them all to try to take my life. so all around bad thing. I’ll take them.

I take 33 pills a day (not all meds)

holy crap, I guess I shouldn’t complain about my 13 pills then.

Lots and lots of people stop their medication. Lots and lots of people who stop their medication relapse. Stopping your meds is a gamble and there is no guarantee that you will be fine and there is no guarantee that you won’t relapse. Stopping your medication without telling your doctor or being monitored by a doctor is especially bad.

Think it through. Can you afford a relapse at this stage of your life? Stopping is a personal, individual decision. How would a relapse effect your life? Can you afford to be almost incapacitated for several months or more from a relapse? I’m not trying to scare you, I’m just stating some things to think about. I think virtually every medicated schizophrenic thinks about stopping their medication at some point. I’ve just heard too many horror stories about relapses. Whatever you decide to do I hope it works out for you. Good luck and be careful, especially if you are responsible for another human being and someone is depending on you.

I’m sorry to tell you but, it will probably end in your being hospitalized or worse. You are really taking big chances with your health. I would recommend you get into contact with your psychiatrist right now and get back on your meds immediately.

thank you. I know you’re right all of you. I don’t even know what I was thinking. I took my meds and told my husband what happened. I’m safe now thanks
