I’m not craving alcohol right now. What I want is a cigarette or some amphetamines. Please talk me out of it. I go to NA and should know not to do the first one.
When is your next meeting? If not soon can you travel to get to one quickly?
Sorry for the new post @anon4362788. For some reason it isn’t letting me edit.
It was at noon. I’m not sure when the next one is.
No worries. Sorry about having to close the other.
Try to hold out until the urges pass @anon54988740 . Do you have anyone that you can call for support when you get such urges?
Just one guy from NA who also goes to my psych clinic. I just was thinking about calling him. He’s trying to quit cigarettes right now though.
I haven’t smoked in ten years and the last time I did amphetamines was back in the 1980’s. I’m starting to get over it now somewhat.
At your age amphetamines could kill you.
Try to distract yourself and get in touch with NA members for support.
Good luck!
Thanks @Wave 15
It’s one of the reasons I’m moving, all the drugs and drinking in my current building, drug dealers on the street outside the building.
When I was quitting smoking and I had a craving I would distract myself by doing something, anything. Going for a walk, cleaning the closet, vacuum, etc… the cravings would usually pass, but come back later and I’d be distracting myself all over again. Quitting is damn hard, probably one of the hardest things I have done. It took me multiple attempts over 10 years to finally quit, but I did do it, cold turkey.
What you don’t want is the paranoia which comes with amphetamines. Don’t sugar coat it. You know it’s hell.
Thanks @Headspark @fractaled
It will not make things better. If it does you’ll end up paying for it. You know it doesn’t work anymore. Wash your dishes instead.
Thanks @Jinx . It’s mostly over now. I got busy packing and cleaning for my move. There’s a package at the post office I’m going to pickup.
I would suggest getting more numbers and using them. Most NA members are glad to help. Do you have a sponsor you can talk to?
You can’t help someone unless their willing to help themselves.
Key word there is “willing “.
Thanks @77nick77 @Green. The urges are over for the time being. Each day is a new day. At this time I don’t have a sponsor, but I’m looking for one. I’m going to go to the meeting today.
When you crave something you can find a key sentence like “no thanks” or " i don t want it " and whenever you want something try to repeat this sentence.it was work when i quit smoking
