Scientific American article
I don’t think marijuana caused schizophrenia for me but I did have some weird thoughts sometimes when I was high. I tried three different Delta 9 sparkling waters on Wednesday and I didn’t like the headchange I got. I tried two more on Friday and it was better but it’s not like smoking marijuana, it’s not the same high feeling I was hoping for. I didn’t really like it and it’s expensive and the headchange only lasts a few short hours so I’m not gonna do it anymore.
I have never scared my son in a “you may get it too” kind of way.
Except once.
We walked past one of the shops where you can buy weed…and I told him both me and his dad and some family on both sides had a problem with our head…the thing that sent me to hospital…and with that family history, he should never in his life smoke weed. Because it causes that problem. Weed is so normal and legal here…that I wanted it imprinted in him extremely well…to stay away from it. With schizophrenia on both sides of the family and both of us probably suffering psychosis… meh.
Snoop Dogg and Willy Nelson are fine though
Is the percentage of schizophrenics in the general population still 1%? If it’s higher then you can blame things that have been done lately like the legalization of pot, or the recent ravages of Covid. If it’s not there’s no reason to really sweat it.
I utilize it for anxiety and stress occasionally. It is legal here. My primary physician, pdoc, and therapist all encouraged me to try it. My pdoc won’t prescribe benzos and said marijuana is a good alternative.
I also use edibles in small amounts for my disabled daughter. She has horrible behavior and meltdowns with a lot of self harm. We have tried almost every antidepressant, risperdone, and Abilify for her. The longest anything helped was for abpit 2 weeks. The worst thing that ever happened was Celexa made her suicidal.
Last month I bought an edibles chocolate bar for her 21 birthday. She can legally have marijuana, so I figured why not try one more thing?
I am dead serious when I say that delta 9 edibles has been a miracle. She calmed down, did not scratch up her face, came down stairs to watch tv with the family, and instead of repeating herself all night she had actual conversations with us. She hasn’t done any of that since before 2020.
That’s the only good thing I noticed from drinking Delta 9 sparkling waters - my anger from my PTSD wasn’t there anymore while I had the head change.
It’s amazing with all the studies saying that cannabis is making people get schizophrenia,
That I don’t know more people (IRL) with schizophrenia.
I think one thing that matters is when the Cannabis is used and then is a fact that the developing mind can be negatively affected by the use of cannabis so unfortunately I regret using cannabis when I was in high school then go out of developed my brain to a higher degree if I hadn’t
I know a lot of people here that have negative feelings about cannabis and how it impacts their physical/mental health,
But it is exclusive to here.
That makes me wonder about articles like this.
Its sort of reading like propaganda to me. The use of the word unfortunately is rather strange i think
We see a lot of these articles here.
I’m speaking from my life experience.
I’m the only person I know IRL (aside from my own sister) with schizophrenia.
And I peer pressured a lot of people into smoking copious amounts of weed.
Amazingly, they’re all just fine, functional members of society.
This is interesting:
Indeed, evidence suggests that certain cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol (CBD), are potentially beneficial in the treatment of schizophrenia,7 and thus may be an alternative or adjunctive therapy for this patient population.
I did not know this.
Don’t get your hopes up for CBD, man.
It doesn’t do a lot and costs tons of money.
I’ve tried.
I love the stuff. Helps me out. Relieves stress and makes me feel good. Some people can’t have peanuts, and some people can’t have wheat. Some people shouldn’t smoke weed if they don’t like it.
There are some people who devote their lives to cannabis. It can be a life style for some. Then again some people it doesn’t agree with, and those people should avoid weed.
I think they should legalise it really.
If it makes you feel bad then your best leaving it alone.
@FreeLunch I smoke CBD hemp flower regularly, and I’ve found this is the best way to get the full effects of CBD. It doesn’t get you high, but it helps with mood, anxiety, and overall feelings of well-being. It’s legal in all 50 states, and there are a ton of reputable dealers online where you can order. It’s been a gamechanger for me, for sure. I still take my meds, though, def wouldn’t stop that.
I will say I never smoked CBD.
I always used pill form so maybe smoking it is worth a go.
The study also has implications for public prevention and treatment strategies. “People are their own agents,” Hjorthøj says. “They can decide for themselves. But they should, if they do use cannabis, decide based on proper data and not from a story that cannabis is completely harmless and maybe even something everybody should use, which I think is the way the public discourse is moving.”
For regular cannabis smokers, smoking CBD hemp flower would be disappointing haha but for those who are very sensitive to THC and don’t live in a legal state, such as myself, it’s perfect. I’ll smoke some CBD flower instead of taking an addictive benzo, and it works just the same.
Im glad you found something that works
