I’m on caplyta and I have tachycardia. I read this is a side effect of second generation antipsychotics. The meds that sedate you a lot cause minimal amounts of tachycardia. I worry about the tachycardia because when the heart beats fast it doesn’t fully fill the chambers of the heart putting you at a higher risk of blood clots. A fib, an arrhythmia, where your heart beats fast puts you at risk for blood clots, people with this arrhythmia take warfarin to prevent blood clots. When I went to the doctor my heart rate was 110 beats per minute. I’m trying to only drink water, no caffeine, salt, or sugar to regulate my blood pressure, and no caffeine because it can higher my heart rate. All the side effects from these meds is just terrible. Ok. Good things. I wish you good day.
I have a high resting heart rate too. I’m sure you will be fine man but keep an eye on it. Keep us updated on how you feel going forward.
Good things.
I had to lower my clozapine by cardiologist’s orders. My resting heart rate was 120 for years and it wasn’t healthy!
So you are off the lybalvi then?
Caplyta screwing you up too. I thought they took you off meds that caused tachycardia?
Sucks!
I have to starve myself everyday just to maintain weight since they upped my meds. I am on about 1200 calories a day now and it is taking some getting used to.
Get a fitness watch to monitor heart rate as visiting a doc often raises heartbeats. It certainly does for me.
I have a low salt diet too for blood pressure. I never add any. You get used to it if you up the herbs and spices.
Good luck!
Make sure you ask your doctor to do regular EKGs. I had tachycardia on clozapine that turned out to be due to QTc prolongation, which can be fatal. Also, tachycardia over a long period can lead to cardiomyopathy. Sometimes if it’s “just” tachycardia, a beta-blocker like propranolol can help slow it down. A good smartwatch can also help you track your heartrate and sometimes detect certain arrhythmias. But be proactive with your provider, a lot of the time they don’t do anything (like EKGs) until you ■■■■■ at them enough…
I am on Caplyta and have no side effects.
I haven’t had to take Warfarin for years, they have better anticlotting drugs now.
Just wondering which ones are better anti clotting meds I’m on apixaban it’s a blood thinner
Maybe it’s best to talk to my cardiologist not someone on the internet but if you have experience maybe I can give a better option
@shutterbug is apixaban the best option I know it’s new i think
i get tachycardia from them too. but the worst from clozapine, olanzapine, and quetiapine. the thing that worries me about tachycardia is that if its all the time it can change the heart muscle and damage it. you could ask ur dr to check it. when they said i had it from clozapine i wore a heart monitor they put on me for i think 3 days and they checked that it was always high then they came me a pill for it. but i just quit the clozapine after they did that cause i had a lot of side effects but there are pills to lower heart rate
I have the opposite, low heart rate due to fluphenazine, generic prolixin…I am on heart meds…won’t your doctor prescribe heart meds or are you getting ready to figure that out?
Seroquel does that to me also Clozapine. Yes, drink plenty of water and don’t do any strenuous exercise.
My pdoc prescribed me propranalol for high heart rate when I was on clozapine. It slowed it down, in fact I took the Clozapine for years along with propranolol.
Lixiana aka Edoxaban. Max dose.
I have been diagnosed with cardiac dysrythmia/a-fib in 2015. Im on 100mg Tambocor 2 x per day and 2.5mg Bilocor 2 x per day. I have not been prescribed any bloodthinners, why I don’t know. I do drink 100mg Aspirin per day though.
2 Months ago I went for a heart sonar. My heart is slightly enlarged because of high bp I was told and I have a very small leak on one of the valves.
I’ll be 57 in July. I’m gonna ask my dr about bloodthinners on next appointment.
Sorry I can’t help you with more info. Maybe @shutterbug can advise me in a direction.
This is what doctors are for.
