I have a question. Why is my post pending approval? Is it because I wrote the word scientology?
I have had bad experiences with this group. They are profit-based, and their business model centers around selling memberships. When I was a mod here, they had representatives come on many times trying to promote their brand. When we explained to them that we don’t allow outside promotion, they would make new accounts and keep pushing the issue, or put links to their site in profiles and just start spam liking random posts so users would click on their profile and see the link.
I think they probably are very helpful for people who have auditory hallucinations with no underlying psychotic symptoms. People with tinnitus or stuff, who know that they have a physical defect and just want to not be treated with alarm when they discuss their issues. People who just need tips on things like “how to sleep when my ears won’t stop hearing fake sounds.” They are pretty useless to people with psychotic disorders. They are officially and undeniably against medication and diagnosis.
Thank you for the great information and truth about this organization/group. Something didn’t sit right with me when I read this coping worksheet that I was given. I will be steering clear of them. I will not be following the advice of the worksheet. I am certainly not against medications and never will be. I don’t know what to think of this member of my treatment team now. I’m very leery.
The organization goes to great lengths to misrepresent their main goal when speaking directly to MH workers. I found out their actual stance by going to their website. The sales pitch they gave us was just that it was a support group for people with hallucinations, to help people feel less alone.
Ok. That’s good to know. Maybe this member of my treatment team was fooled by this organization since they are so misleading and more. Thank you for this. I will keep this in mind.
