Hearing Voices Network Question

I was wondering what the Hearing Voices Network is all about. Are they a reputable and trustworthy organization? Are they helpful? I don’t know what to think or trust right now. Thank you.

Never heard of them.

I tried to get in touch with them, but i never got a response. My counselor endorsed them and even gave me an article that a doctor disagreed on. So, i personally think they can mislead you.

If I remember right, they are against antipsychotics.

They try to normalize voices and psychotic behaviors.

I saw it as a way of skirting responsibility, and liability.

Never seemed healthy. I questioned the validity of the members, felt like people were trying to fake it.

For me hearing voices are part of psychosis and not an intuitive access to psychic information.

What do they do? Normalise hearing voices?
Its one thing to hear voices and accept you hear them but its another when you have delusions to go along with it

I don’t have any major delusions anymore. Still I don’t consider hearing voices as ‘normal’. And I would gladly get rid off them as they still impact and influence me.

I thought as much because of the information I was given, but I was just trying to make sure. Thank you so much. I don’t want to be misled.

I hadn’t either heard of them until someone on my treatment team suggested this organization. I am feeling misled and kind of mad about this suggestion. Maybe they didn’t do enough research, I’m not sure.

If they are against antipsychotics I am very concerned. I don’t know why I was given this information by a member of my treatment team. I am sort of mad about this.

My former psychologist was a shaman. There are some crappy health professionals out there.

I think that explains it.

I would also gladly get rid of the voices going on and on. I don’t know if I can trust my treatment team member now who tried to give me this information. I am mad.

One time I had a case worker who was an OT

She kept sending me videos of people singing to bodies of water in some eastern healing ritual thing she found out about on a trip to India

I was just thinking she was more nuts that I am

If that was a thing, idk.

She wanted me to try it

To everyone his own I guess. I prefer staying more grounded.

What’s an OT?

I would agree that that would not be my cup of tea as well and that type of treatment would not work for me. I don’t know what I’d do in that situation. I literally do not! That would freak me out maybe. Did you have to keep working with this person for a long time? I hope you found a different OT.

I wasn’t aware that there was a forum for this organization. I was given a type of coping worksheet with (for myself) unhelpful information that wanted me to dive deep and really like interact with and give my voices meaning and time and space and respect or something almost. I didn’t find it helpful at. I’d get so lost again. But I guess some people might find it helpful? I don’t know for sure.

I saw her for about 4 years.

After that I had a CPN who was really down to earth

Now I have a Social Worker

They have a multiple disciplinary team of people who do all different things - not sure if that’s the same in mental health across other places or not
