Headphones for noise reduction?

Hey guys. I’ve lately been having a difficult time in public settings due to the noise level. I think I’ve possibly gotten far too used to everyone always being home due to covid. Possibly I’m just getting old. Either way, I am trying to find good headphones that I can wear in places that are noisy. I need the following specs

  • Fit over entire ear without pressing on the ear itself
  • Over the head
  • Block out noise
  • Do not pinch my head
  • Bluetooth with mic
  • Preferably water resistant
  • Less than $100

I have tried and rejected about 4 different types so far.

LMAO I tried earplugs but they feel weird and are too complicated to take out when I need to hear

I also tried earbuds (hurt my ears) bone conduction headphones (gave me a migraine) and cheap over ear headphones (pinch my ears)

Have you tried reusable ear plugs like Loop?

I use bose quiet comfort II . There expensive tho. I bought them when I still had my business

They’re a sensory nightmare for me. I don’t like things inside my ear

I’ve had my bose headphones since 2017 and I’ve worn them in the pouring rain many times and used them for 1000s of hours. And they still work perfectly good. I even dented them when I crashed snowboarding lol. But they still work perfect.

So they did stand the test of time lol. They were 400 bucks canadian.

I think you can get refurbished for 265 canadian.

Sony wh 1000 is another really good noise cancel over ear.

This doesnt really help you exactly but I would look at flat studio monitors for headphones like ATX M50s. Fits your spec and are great for planes/trains but no mic. But what I prefer in public is earphones as they are more discreet can be put in your pocket and have a microphone. Shure SE 215 are very durable and decent sound quality. Sony and Seinheisser do some ones for around 50£ - 70£ that you could look at but I found mine kept breaking after around a year or so and replacing them cost me yoo much.

Hope you can find something you want. Is there a reason you want headphones (over ears) as opposed to earphones?
Oh I see your reasoning now nevermind.

I agree with @LevelJ1 .

I have Bose wireless noise canceling headphones, too, and they are awesome. They will last forever (I had wired ones in the past, and they’re still good), the sound quality is unbeatable, or you can just put the noise cancel on with no music.

Yes, they are pricey. They are $400 in the US, also, and refurbished are about $200-something here, as well.

Here is a site about best noise canceling headphones under $100:

I hope you find something that works!

I’ve tested them at the store, and they are so beautiful and comfortabel. I just worry about the steep cost, especailly if they don’t work out long term.

Yeah, I am abnormally small in a lot of ways, and one of those ways is that even the tiniest earbuds are still too big for my ears.

I used the wireless ones when I did pressure washing. It doubled as noise protection and I could listen to music :sunglasses:

Not gonna lie, half the reason for noise canceling is because one of the kids has entered a “yell at the parents constantly” phase and the best way to intervene has been to just put on headphones so i dont hear it.

Oh yeah they can muffle even the loudest kids. I wear them at ikea if I have to go shopping :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

We are all probably more sound sensitive. Atleast I know I am for sure

Busy malls or certain noises overwhelm my brain
