Just having a very tough day and night. Alcohol cravings are up the roof. My voices are starting to get loud again. I’m wide awake and can’t sleep. Anybody willing to talk it out with me?
mate…soon to be off for dinner but fight it.
Giving up alcohol is a stress. Stress isn’t good for schizophrenia and makes symptoms worse.
You have to expect a little pain but it’s worth in the long run!
Your doing good. Hang in there!
Tips for sleep.
White noise is great. Jam a desk fan at full and put it near your head…facing away if it’s cold…the drone is fantastic and stills a busy mind.
White noise from a television can work too if you go to sleep with a tv…Jam it between channels and it’s hard to be occupied listening to that!
NO caffeine in the afternoon. Take antipsychotics at night. If your on benzo’s then one under your tongue and let it dissolve…it will hit your blood stream quicker than your stomach!
Thanks @rogueone I have a white noise playlist on my phone have tried it but I think I’m going to try it now. Thanks for the tips and support. Getting sober is stressful and does cause triggers for my schizophrenia but I know it’s for the best!
If I was up 3 hours ago I would have chat with you. Nights are tough. Tougher than days and I can understand wanting to drown out the voices, feelings and overwhelming stress factors with alcohol. I do it sometimes and always regret it. I hope you were able to get some sleep and feel better in the morning.
Thanks for being so kind, unfortunately I didn’t get sleep and where I’m at it’s already morning hopefully I get some sleep tonight though
I’m on the med naltrexone, I recommend it to anyone with substance abuse issues. Especially alcohol or opiates. The combination of naltrexone with an SSRI, completely kills any craving to drink. I couldn’t get drunk if I wanted to
I had two all nighters last week from staying up too late and deciding to just stay up through out the morning.
I would say the best thing to do is go about your day as normally as possible. Eat a bit more food than usual and try and fit a nap in if you can or go to sleep as usual. Our body will readjust and hopefully this won’t happen for you again. At least not for a while. It’s so hard losing sleep. It’s much harder losing sleep because of things only you can experience. It’s lonely. But you have us.
I don’t want to take anything for cravings I’m sticking to doing it all cold turkey
Even though I’ve been in bed all night just watching tv I’m still going to get up and go about with my day as if I had slept. Maybe I will take a nap through the day
Same bruh it’s 6 am now haven’t slept a wink honestly I am not even mildly tired right now. Tomorrow is gonna be disastrous.
On the nights in my life that were the worst, the best relief to me was knowing that morning would come and it would be a new day.
Naps can be really helpful. As long as they’re before 3pm. Otherwise you might find yourself staying up again tonight as well.
