I’ve been having a rough time for months now. I slept for about 4 hours and had trouble getting back to sleep. I was feeling anxious and then I heard voices that wake me up. I’m getting vivid images and dreams around the same time.I’ve heard about hypnagogic hallucinations, but this is persistent. I’m getting concerned about it being more than that. I tried a different couple places recently to see what’s going on. They really didn’t give me an answers. I’m going to have to check somewhere else.
Do you have hallucinations?
When I try to sleep.
These are normal, I think. Why do you worry? How is your sleep?
My sleep is usually ok, but sometimes I have trouble getting a full nights rest. I’m worried since it has been going on for awhile. I’ve been trying to get help to figure this out.
What kind of help? Do you take aps?
I’ve been to a Psychatric Center and they said I didn’t qualify for inpatient. They showed me coping skills though. I went to an ER and same thing, I was sent home. I’m trying to find someone else who I can see to get this figured out.
Don’t you have a psychiatrist?
No, I haven’t been able to get a diagnosis yet.
What are your symptoms? Are you sure you have schizophrenia?
I’m not sure if I do or not. I have some of the symptoms like hearing voices before sleep, vivid dreams, anxiety.
Ok. You should see a psychiatrist. It will help a lot
Sounds like you have disturbed sleep. Are you stressed a lot?
The hallucinations before sleep or upon waking are normal so try to let that go.
Maybe ask your doc about how you can get better quality sleep?
I wouldn’t worry about it unless its really interfering with your life. Antipsychotics have lots of side effects sometimes serious.
I’m functioning descent with my job and hobbies. I struggle with anxiety at times and that’s when the voice interfere with my sleep.
