Have you ever scanned your brain in your life

I’ve had PET scan 3 times when I came off meds. It was free for me but $3000 worth. It was both for predicting my relapse and for a research purpose. But I don’t know ther result. In the next appointment, I’m gonna ask about it. But I’m afraid. Have you had FMRI, PET, SPECT, or MRI or some other scans in your life?

I badly want a SPECT scan, but it might be expensive, also I’m in so much pain I can’t go out. Can barely eat meals with my parents these days even.

Yeah. I’ve seen my brain with ct scans after a gran mal. Ventricles weren’t enlarged but they were slightly asymetrical. I’ve had mri’s and stuff done but nothing out of the ordinary. That seems to be a common thing. Schizophrenia often doesn’t have anything different in scans to normal people.

I’d be asking. May as well find out what, if anything was different.

My next oppointment would be the second week of September, so I would ask. Glad you didn’t find anything different compared to ordinary people. That’s a good thing. :+1:

I really, really want a brain scan. My mother was schizophrenic, I am schizophrenic, and my daughter is profoundly mentally handicapped - having a condition of Grey Matter Heterotopia (GMH).

I have read a few articles where GMH and schizophrenia were linked but they are highly academic and there appears to be little hard data. I’d like to find out…

If there would be more researches and fund for brain scans that schizophrenics can get benefit from…! I hope you and your family get healthier soon…

I’ve had an mri twice I think? By neurologists. First one was without dye, I ended up moving, new neurologist decided they were dissatisfied w it and wanted it with dye. Both were unpleasant experiences. First time the MRI actually was giving me bad anxiety and setting off my symptoms I think because I felt trapped lying down (ptsd trigger) and there were such loud noises.

Second time I was at least prepared for what it would be like but the dye experience was miserable because the dummies couldn’t find my vein, oh my god they called in half the unit trying to find it and stuck me like 6 times once even in my foot!! (Unsuccessfully-lucky them I don’t have a needle phobia) They had my arms wrapped with rubber gloves filled with warm water to try to bring out my veins. Finally they called in a nurse from the pediatric ICU and she did it in 2 seconds and looked as done with all of them & their incompetence as I was at that point :joy:

Terrible experiences…! how couldn’t they find your veins for a long time…! Very unprofessional…I did PET scans and the nurses were not bad. But for the time being scanned, I couldn’t move my body a bit for 1 and half hours. It was a hell…and I couldn’t sleep because I felt I’m being observed and because of noises the machine makes. My hands felt numb and my body was painful.

I think I may have had something done in the mid 70s, early on in my illness, but can’t remember for sure. If I did I was never told the result.

I’m not sure what type of scan it was, but apparently I have an abnormally high number of connections between brain hemispheres. At least twice as many more than a female and many many more times than the average male.

I’ve had several MRI brain scans, and the doctor said my brain was normal.

I have had 3 CT scans and 2 MRIs of the brain. Never found anything abnormal.

I was in a study on how people with schizophrenia react to faces and expressions, they sent me pics of my brain

Genius

I had an x-ray of my head when I was 6 because I was sledding and crashed face-first into a tree, so they wanted to make sure I didn’t break my nose.

I had 2 CT all good/ok

Yes. When I was hospitalized.

I was in a magnetic tube with my head…3 times. I do it in every 5 years.

Wow Is this your brain awesome
