Do they metion anything about your brain?

my pdocs in the state ward ordered me to have a cat scan when I was in the hospital to rule out tumours since schizophrenia wasn’t in my family.

No…i dont know why they did the scan but in the middle of the scan they stopped the machiene and asked me not to think…and then turned the machene on again. Oh yeah…something about how the meds are effecting my brain. I guess if you secretly dont take your pills it shows on the scan.

maybe I was same with you. The research purpose propbably was to check the medicine effects on my brain…but they didn’t tell me my prognosis(they promised me to tell me) and I’m gonna ask next even though I’m a little afraid.

I’ve wanted to get a PET scan before, but it probably wouldn’t do any good for me. I don’t think they’re advanced enough with the med’s that a PET scan could show them how to prescribe med’s and conduct therapy.

I know nothing about neuroscience and PET scan, but I hope they couldn’t show everything to us. Brain changes and develops. Pictures of brain scan at one time cannot decide my prognosis…but I know their good intention, they want to stop our relapses and do indivitual-fitting therapy.

I had a ct scan and you’ll never guess what they found!!!

A brain…

Much relieved

My kids said they weren’t sure that was correct
Funny kids :upside_down_face:

I also wanted to know what they discovered about my brain so i asked my pdoc to read to me from the computer but the conclusion of the scan was so complicated that my pdoc admitted she doesnt know what it means.

@naturallycured, What is a SPECT scan?

A SPECT scan shows you how well the blood is flowing in your brain. Here’s a picture of what drug abuse can do to a person’s brain (as compared to a healthy brain:)

I thought some of those scans can be bad for you? Don’t want to make anything worse than it needs to be.

What! None for apple juice? Guess all those grade school teachers were wrong.

I would hope that everyone here has had at least a CT scan or MRI, to rule out physical causes for their disorder. That’s the first step anyone should take before giving a psychotic diagnosis.

I was never given any sort of brain scan. The medical docs I saw just sent me to psychologists who in turn sent me to a pdoc that within moments of meeting me, diagnosed me with psychosis NOS and prescribed risperidone. Then I saw 2 more pdocs over the first 2 years…somewhere along the way they changed the diagnosis to schizophrenia. Since then they’ve adjusted meds a few times but they all seem to agree I have sz.

It might be worth getting a scan just to rule anything out. But, if it’s two years later and your condition has stayed static, they probably wouldn’t find anything.

It’s 6 years later. 2 years into everything was when I noticed they officially were calling it sz.

I still want to look into having a scan. My current pdoc won’t order one but maybe she or my primary care doc will give me a referral to a neurologist, especially considering my daughter’s condition.

I had a CAT scan and 2 MRI scans. I have white spots on my brain, a pineal cyst, and a white spot on my right frontal lobe.

My white spots are caused by migraines.

When I was first hospitalized yes. They didn’t say anything to me so I’m assuming it was normal.
