Have you ever been arrested?

I have not, but only because I got busted by some very laid back police.

In 2012 I got unbelievably lucky. I got caught red-handed growing marijuana plants in my bedroom closet.

Disclaimer: I am in no way trying to glorify marijuana use, as I realize it is generally very bad for people like us.

I had passed out on the couch, drunk, with food cooking on the stove. I woke up to a fireman kicking in the door to the apt. One of the fireman went back to my bedroom to open windows and saw the light coming from the closet. I turned the grow light off after they left, but I knew he had seen it.

An hour later two deputies came to my door. The one asked me if I had anything illegal in my apt, and I said no; I was still drunk, so I consented to them coming in. They immediately went back to my bedroom and opened the closet door. The one said, “I thought you said there was nothing illegal in here, or do you have your card?” I was living in a medical marijuana state, but I did not have a medical marijuana card. I said, “yeah, I’m working on it, I’m bipolar.” The deputy said, “so, you’re getting your card, right?” Lol, it was clear he wanted/needed me to say yes. So I said, “yes, I am,” and he said, “ok, well you’re going to have to destroy them.” I cut them down, put them in a trash bag, and handed them over. They just left with the plants. Holy crap, did I get lucky!!!

I’ve had other close calls, but that was the biggest one.

If you’ve never been arrested, have you had any close calls like that?

Btw, sorry that was so long, but it was a long story.

I hope I’m not repeating myself. It just occurred to me that I may have posted this story once before, many moons ago. Most of you would not have seen it, though.

I have never been arrested, but I have had the cops called on me.
I was living with my at-the-time boyfriend, who had some, erh, anger issues.
We were out of his drug of choice, so he was very agitated and angry. We got in a fight, and he went into the kitchen and knocked the handle on the door crooked to keep me from getting it. Turned out, he couldn’t get out either, so he panicked and started yelling while knocking down the door.

Next thing I knew, there was a huge car/van outside the apartment (we lived on the ground floor), and I heard police dogs barking. The police knocked and I had no choice but to let them in. Two policemen came in and talked to us, explaining to us that the neighbours thought someone was getting killed, and were worried since they knew he did drugs.
The policemen were very polite, and left us with a warning.

Damn, that sounds like quite an ordeal. It’s good that you’re no longer with him.

I got handcuffed once whilst manic :expressionless: but not arrested

Me too. Leaving him was the best thing I ever did for myself.

I have a number of public intoxication arrests where I spent the night in jail. On one public intoxication arrest they kept me in jail for a month with no trial. I also have a “drunk and disorderly” arrest that they kept me in jail for four days on, with a hefty fine added on. I also have a couple of “carrying a concealed deadly weapon” arrests where they kept me in jail for two months with no trial. The concealed deadly weapon was a knife, and I never got near anyone with the knife. I’ve seen guys who were far more likely to use their knife pull a great big one out of their backpack, and no policeman arrested them.

Just the time when I was 12 and I posted a scary chain picture and a kid called the cops on me. I cried and deleted it

I was crab fishing on fisherman’s wharf in San Francisco when I was 17 but didn’t have a bucket to put the crabs in so I saw a bucket on the other side of a no trespassing sign fence and did it anyways…when I jumped over the fence and landed on the deck about seven hundred seagulls flew up in the flood lights from being startled…also on the other side of the fence I didn’t notice until I’d jumped that there was a lot of barb wire on the other side…by the time I got back over the fence the neighbor business, a fish market, men were waiting for me…they handed me over to the police and I spent about five hours in the San Francisco jail…the cops before they put me in the cell kept teasing me that I was from Oklahoma, being mean to me…anyways…once the D.A. found out all I was after was a bucket they deferred the breaking and entering charge but it is still on my record somehow.

Another time when I was about 20 I was at a keg party on New Year’s Eve being thrown in town in a small town named Lindsay oklahoma, the cops were known for police brutality and motioned for me to come to them outside the door of the party building…big mistake…they immediately took the beer out of my hands and arrested me for publice intoxication…me and about four of my buddies were apprehended and the cops when were in the police station slammed one of my buddies against the wall and hit him in the face…anways…one of our mothers bailed us out and we went and finished off our New Year’s Eve about three o’clock on a dirt road drinking for the rest of the night…

Another one that was kind of funny happened in 2005. I was working at a 7-eleven, and I had just been held up. I was outside smoking a cig and chatting with a cop. He was a cool guy, young guy. At one point he said to me, “you know, I sometimes park in the alley behind the dumpster; smells like you’ve been smoking some pretty good stuff.” When he saw the look on my face he just smiled and said, “don’t worry, if I was working midnights here I’d probably be doing the same thing.” lol

Twice.

Once for disorderly conduct/simple possession and then again for refusing to pay or go to court for that charge.

It was an interesting time in my life…

I have not…

My Dad had to pick me up from the police station once in high school. But I was never arrested.

Sort of? I was psychotic and thought if I left the bus station (big building with offices where all the buses came and went, small town) there were people waiting to kill me and they would know because of something implanted in my head. So I wouldn’t leave even though the station was closing and police were called. They took me to the jail, but only until an ambulance got there to take me to a hospital with a psych unit. So not really arrested, but still had to wait in a cell for a day.

I did get two MIPs in high school and had to go to the police station for one. My friends who were older picked me up when they sobered up. They didn’t get in trouble because they were 17. Well they did get tickets. The other one got dropped because the judge wanted to give me a chance since I hadn’t been in trouble before. A

lots of times. I gave up my car and started walking everywhere. a couple times I attempted to walk to California, from Indiana, needless to say I only made it to Illinois or Kentucky before getting thrown in jail for being suspicious.

Lots of resisting arrest, and failure to identify, I just stopped cooperating with cops as I learned there assholes. As for the failure to identify, I was of the argument that identification violated my rights, as I considered it an unreasonable search and seizure.

and one alcohol related charge…like the others I was held without trial for some time, once for months between jail and then a hospital I was transferred to. Now I look back and consider a lawsuit against some of the parties involved but I don’t like court in the first place

Not arrested, but one time I was very psychotic and the police were looking for me all over town. I avoided them, but once I came home they apparently ‘had’ to come see me to make sure I was fine.

I’m terrified of cops, I hate hate hate them so much. So having two in my house was not good for my mental health, lol.

Fortunately not. It surprises me though, since I used to spend a lot of time doing drugs in public. I’ve been in the process of buying something and looked up to see police looking at us but they didn’t do anything about it, I guess they just didn’t care about it that much
