Have you been good sleeper prior Developing mental illness

I became insomniac with sleep paralysis 6 years prior developing psychosis.
I think if i hadnt have insomnia, i wouldnt develop psychosis, and the cause to my insomnia was the stress.

Used to be, I went to bed and never woke up until the alarm rang the next morning.
I got so caught up trying to prove my so called delusions, that I was getting as little as 3hours a sleep a night I know lack of sleep made for some pretty weird incidences.

I had got gaming addiction and six months before my psychosis I went to work in the morning and came back at night,I played games for so long that I neglected my sleep…I would be sleeping for 2 hours a day for continuos of 2 week,I think this cause my psychosis

Sleep is just very important

During our sleep is when the body heal itself, unfortunatly this doesnt apply to the brain, since we use our brain in sleep as well, our brain needs to be in comma state for at least six months to heal itself, but thats not possible.

I’ve always had issues sleeping, but then again I’ve always had my psychosis.

Mainly it was because I tried to stay awake because otherwise I’d have terrible nightmares, but if I stayed awake I got very scared and paranoid and thought I was in a lot of danger.

I still have insomnia today, usually from the paranoia at night.

I’ve been a terrible sleeper since I was seven years old. I’m 56 now.

when I was younger I was very strict about bedtime but a lot of the time id be in bed worrying about school the next day quite anxious. then years later I tried to do nursery nursing at college I wouldn’t sleep the night before because of anxiety and the more I didn’t sleep the more anxious I got so didn’t sleep. I started drinking alcohol after I couldn’t manage college I didn’t know what else to do.

Stopped being able to sleep when I was 13. Didn’t have psychosis til I was 19 or so. Definitely think anxiety and inability to sleep was one of the starts of my mental illness.

I now sleep 5-6 hours, i sleep at the same time every day and wake up exactly at the same time every day, my sleep was better before we changed saving daylight time.

Used to be but haven’t slept properly in a good 8 years with varying intensities of insomnia, I barely ever deep sleep now. I started to be up until 2-4am even on school nights 2 years before my first break, back when it was prodromal symptoms.
