For example, when you think of rose, you can ‘have a smell of roses’ in your mind although there are no roses around.
Is that really considered a hallucination? Sounds normal to me, although I don’t experience that.
for me it’s smoke. During a panic attack, I smell smoke.
So do I SurprisedJ - when I’m not well I get a strange smokey smell.
The two I have had are rolling tobacco and gas(my wife used to smoke but I rarely have a smoker in the flat nowadays) and gas . The first doesn’t bother me but the second gets me in a quandary. I am never sure what to do, past experience tells me it’s my brain playing tricks(It happened one period while still seeing the befriender and he never said " I smell gas") but what if one time it isn’t. Then there’s the issue of wasting people’s time and making a fool of myself. After a while the smell does go away suggesting strongly it’s a glitch in the brain.
I get them every few days maybe. Mostly unpleasant smells.
