The worst smell I hallucinated was smoke. It distressed me terribly since I didn’t know it was a hallucination. I’ve heard of Buddhists having smells from meditation and Christian mystics smelling a sweet smell. I also heard that you should not get sidetracked by the smells.

I’ve swarn I smelled popcorn, Dario’s, and smoke I have to agree smoke is the scariest but I ask my mom or husband if they smell it so I can determine if it’s real or not, ps: popcorn is my most common one 
By the Lord my mother wouldn’t shut up about smells that she feels. Women in general are more sensitive to smells, but she is on just another level. Since she has mental illness with voices and hallucinations, I assume that this is just another hallucination of hers. She mostly describes a specific smell of garbage that she felt in different situations and different locations over her entire life, when there shouldn’t be any such smell, much less a specific smell.
She also described feeling sweet smells in christian churches many decades before she ever had voices, so that’s something.
I never hallucinated smells, but I thought I did. I was just deluding myself at the time.

I remember hallucinating garbage during my last break. I would go to our garage to check the trash can
I’ve hallucinated the smell of poop once in a while.
in my 20s i would smell vomit occasionaly and feel a presence.
i dont know.
I thought i was hallucinating strange smells - and got it into my head it was the dead old lady that used to live in my flat.
Months later, i discovered the neighbour was spraying air freshner in the corridor, cos i was smoking cigars at the time lol
