I just texted my family doctor and let him know that I dont want to take my beta blocker (I’m on bisoprolol) anymore.
I was prescribed it because I had an elevated heart rate. At that time I was not exercising at all and I was heavier than I am right now.
I’ve been running lately and am losing weight and I feel like I dont need my beta blocker anymore. My blood pressure is low and my heart rate is in the 50’s. I dont want them to get too low and cause me problems.
Has anyone on the forum successfully tapered of their beta blocker?
I was told by my doctor that i didnt need to taper the beta blocker i was on. He’s an idiot! My pulse rate jumped up to 140 bpm. So definitely taper very slowly and be mindful of your pulse rate.
Please contact your General practitioner about it and don’t do it on your own hands as you may suffer with drawel. I quit an antipsychotic half a year ago that I had used for 20 years. I suffered withdrawal for half a year because I stopped it abruptly as it was the only way for me to get rid of it. After having a rise in my other antipsychotics I finally got peace of mind. If you can tapper that’s the way it should be I will never advice anybody just stopping their meds.
Only thing that was wrong was I had an elevated resting heart rate. I had no problems aside from that. Blood pressure was fine, no chest pain, no heart failure, ect…
My dr had me taper off a beta blocker when I no longer needed it after losing a bunch of weight. Unfortunately I’ve gained a lot of it back. Hopefully I get this under control and lose it again. I don’t want to be back on all those meds I used to need
My doctor just replied to me and said “take half tablet 2,5 mg daily x 1 week then alternate days another week , then stop , check bp and heart rate daily , ideal under 85” @Natron
