Tried that. No help for me with diet related changes for mental improvement. But healthy diet to maintain weight is important.

Tried both, no difference in symptoms, just made me miserable because I missed foods I loved. Being miserable actually made my symptoms worse. Like @LevelJ1 said I recommend eating everything in balance and also some regular exercise.

I tried to cut out dairy but nothing changed. I tried with gluten too, it didn’t help.

I also tried lchf but it didn’t do anything.

If you are intolerant then it might help.

yes but will work only if you are gluten intolderant. for example if you had a peanut allergy and had been living eating peanuts every day that would contribute to the immense stress you may feel and quitting it would take some pressure off. many people have allerfies to gluten and dont know it. so eating gluten every day is doing bad things to their gut health which affects brain health and harming them. but if youre not sensitive to gluten i dont think quitting will do much

I’ve tried going gluten- and dairy-free before and didn’t notice a decrease in symptoms. It’s still important to follow a healthy diet and exercise, as both those improve mental health.

I am currently doing the dairy free and gluten free experiment along with my keto diet. It has been 4 weeks now and I have not noticed any improvement in my positive or negative symotoms. I am quite disappointed

Funny how these fad treatments never seem to work, eh?

Are you exercising regularly? Best place to start.

You are so right @anon82948922 I haven’t been on my usual walking routine for so long now. I need to focus on more exercise and lot less supplement and diet researching.

Well I mean it helps gut symptoms if you are lactose intolerant with celiacs disease. So um…..no.

The one supplement I would recommend is probiotics. I started taking them just for my diverticular disease, but have found many other benefits that I notice disappear quickly if I go off of them for a week.

Do NOT buy the expensive probiotics at the store. The only ones that have enough bacteria in them to survive gut transit cost like $150/mth. You can brew your own kraut at home that is actually more potent in terms of bacteria count than what is sold in the store for pennies on the dollar. It’s an acquired taste, but you only need a few tablespoons a day.

I promise you that you’ll notice a change for the better in a couple of weeks in terms of digestion, sleep, and energy levels. This also helps with your SZ symptoms, when you feel better you manage them better.

That’s funny you mentioned homemade sauerkraut. I used to make it a long time ago. I think I still have my huge jar with that fermentation lid.

I will get back to making it and see if I feel any better. Homemade sauerkraut is a whole lot cheaper than beef and expensive supplements!

I’m not a fan of having to eat this stuff. I don’t like it that much. I would not keep doing it if I didn’t notice tangible benefits, believe me.

Dairy and gluten are horrible. But I have an allergy to both.
