Has anyone ever organized a meeting of any sort

In my state there’s no marijuana anonymous, but I think it be really helpful if they had one a week to go to. I’m thinking about starting a marijuana anonymous meeting.

Sounds like a good idea! I have known people who struggled w marijuana and wanting to quit but not being able to. People say it’s not addictive but just bc something isn’t physically addictive doesn’t mean it isn’t psychologically addictive.

I’d love to create some sort of psychotic disorders group, but I don’t really want to put myself out there with my illness until I am secure in my career and know that doing so won’t unintentionally screw me over.

You might be able to find an online meeting. You can sit in your apartment and attend at your leisure,

@77nick77 I know it’s a fickle thing to do but I got a sponsor a couple days ago and he’s already setting unreasonable expectations from me. He wants me to go to two meetings on Monday night because I have a mandatory house meeting at 6:15, then he requires his Sponsees to meet him Monday at 8 pm like 45 minute drive from my house. So it’d be cutting it close. Yesterday I met a guy literally 2 minute drive from my house and he was awesome. I think he’d be a better fit. You think it’s ok for me to replace the sponsor already?

Switching sponsors is OK. Not every person who you ask or who offers to be your sponsor is going to work out. There might be a problem like you are running into with this guy or sometimes there may be a personality clash where you simply don’t like each other. AA doesn’t expect you to stay in a bad sponsor-sponsee relationship if things go bad. Of course if you are switching sponsors every other week that might be a problem.

Personally, I had a few different sponsors until I found one that worked for both of us. But before I found one that worked for me I had a asked a couple of people to sponsor me but I got the impression they didn’t like me. One guy said he would sponsor me and gave me his phone number but them he never returned my calls. Another guy I asked lied to me about being out of town when I called him so I got the picture and didn’t call him anymore. Than I asked a third guy who was really friendly and cool and he said he would sponsor me but after just a little while I discovered I did not like him so I ended that.

My fourth sponsor worked out fine and he invited me to his house where he lived with his son and I worked the steps with him there and he always served the best coffee, lol.

Yeah, it’s non-productive to stay with a sponsor when it is not working out and shopping around for a sponsor is pefectly alright.

I’m gonna call up Bill right now then!

Not a meeting but a petition. I wrote a letter to my former apartment management asking them to install new water heaters. I took this letter door to door to all of the tenants in the apartment building and asked each tenant to sign this letter after explaining what it was. This campaign resulted in the installation of two new water heaters and everyone was happy.
