something simple like boiled eggs (cold) broken over a bread roll with sliced tomato, lettuce and low fat cheese maybe even some olives & mayo tastes fantastic with a apple and a small orange juice.

How did this taste?

@SoitGoes please stop adding to that bowl of beans and vegetables you had…haha…if you want my recipe for jambalaya it is a rice dish and you can eat like a king for a week. what do you say?

Sounds good man… I just gotta wait a week here…

I’m going to break it up into portions and freeze… I was going to say tomorrow but I might as well now.

I got a bag of shredded cheese for a buck 60 today…

The pancake idea is going to work out great with my breakfast plan… they even have dozen packs of premade panackes but they are pretty small.

1$ a day for breakfast… 30 dollars a month… I can make adjustments and substitute things out over time… they have 5 lb tubs of yogurt for sale there as well. only a few flavors. but i think It’ll taste good spread on a pancake and that won’t take very much so the yogurt will last a loooong time… perhaps too long but I’ll adjust the quantities and do my home work. perhaps the 2 lb vat is a better idea. I’ll start with that. Then I’ll have yogurt galore.

dude don’t buy for the whole month…buy about five days worth at a time so you don’t get overwhelmed.

I’ll look for the brand. It’ll probably save me a little making more room for the yogurt.

I don’t mind making the cakes. I’d make a weeks worth at a time and freeze them.

I need more things to do like that.

Buy it on sale. I used to get bags of shredded cheese. A lot of times I could get them for 2 for the price of 1.
Shredded cheese is good to mix in while you’re scrambling eggs, on omelets, or on baked potatoes. You can also put a little oil in a frying pan and fry a corn tortilla and put shredded cheese on it while it’s hot so it melts and eat it just like that. Or put some shredded cheese on a flour tortilla and wrap it up and nuke it for 49 seconds until the cheese melts.

Or make yourself a burrito. You get a flour tortilla, a can of refried beans, shredded cheese, and salsa and sour cream. Lay the tortilla on a dinner plate, put a gob of re-fried beans in the middle and sprinkle the cheese on it. Put it in the microwave for a minute than when the cheese is melted, take it out and put a tablespoon of salsa and a tablespoon of sour cream on it and wrap it up. It’s relatively inexpensive and everybody likes Mexican food.

I like taking fresh vegetables and chopping them up and chopping up some meat. You fry the meat in oil, then fry the vegetables and mix them together. You can make it into a Chinese dish by dousing it with soy sauce and adding garlic. I use mushrooms, hot peppers, bell peppers, onions, asparagus, and green onions. For the meat you can use steak, pork, or chicken. Simple, fast, and tasty.

Hey Bryan, do you like pudding? You can buy fat-free, sugar free instant pudding, it goes on sale all the time where I live. All you do is open the box and empty it into a bowl and add two cups of milk. Stir for two minutes then refrigerate for 5 minutes. You gotta have dessert every now and then.

Pudding is alright… I’ll look into it

I run a different strategy. Its based on the use of a deep freeze. When the meat is on sale/ not discounted. I will stock up on pork chops. and splinted chicken breast. Then when steak is on sale I will get that too. We cook most all of that on a gas grill.

Then I get my rice and pasta or noodle’s and throw them in the pantry. Mack a cheese au Groton potato’s. whatever. I really like Key lime pie but I don’t get it much.

I mean everyone has to figure out what they want… food is so varied… tastes area big factor…

For now I was just looking at canned goods… for meat it’s not the best option… typically there is always something on sale from the butcher…

I’ll probably get a set of knives in addition to my pots and pans… then I can do some real cooking… I bet by the end of the month I’ll have a 30$ list of spices built up… that’ll be killer but once I get those they’ll last.

Man… I’ve done a total 180… I love this consumerist ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  right now at least…

I also have a canned food, black beans and rice, and a few others one of which is Garbanzo beans (chickpeas) - The World’s Healthiest Foods. also corn and green beans.

Yeah canned beans all the way… my chili divied up to be 3.5 portions instead of 7… so was over estimating… gotta hit the drawing board… but I spent money on minced garlic… those mushrooms… cut those out and that’s 4 dollars of the price tag… I’m going to get a larger jar of minced garlic… it should last and its not that expensive.

non canned meat… chicken breasts is what I’m thinking… that would be cheaper as well… or at least I’d have more meat in there…

so excited… god damn… just about a week now… 8 days at most. I’ll be able to start sorting through all this.

Rice is definitely on my list… I’m thinking a combo of canned salmon… scrambled or boiled and then diced egg… and rice with beans carrots… maybe brocolli… the right kind of sauce… fucken endless combinations. HAaHAa I get to eat it all.

This next year is going to be great… recovery is kind of taking a back seat as I get some sustainability in my lifestyle… but within a few months that’ll balance out and I’ll have time to keep reconfiguring those subconscious beliefs and self induced ā€œignorancesā€ that change and prevent voices.

I often make my rice in a rice cooker, then bring the beans up to temp, and cover the rice with the beans, or Garbanzo beans.

I get chicken thighs myself. They’re pretty meaty and their cheaper than the breasts. You can cook chicken in the microwave, it comes out fine and takes about 8 or 9 minutes, depending on how many pieces you’re cooking at one time.

rice cooker huh? I forgot those are a thing.

Yeah I’ve microwaved chicken before… well dethawed it in the microwave… noticed that it seemed to be getting cooked a little bit… but those temperatures are so uneven…

I mean I’ve got the time at home here to move what I want to the fridge in the morning… it’ll thaw in there over time…

As for thigh meat I wouldn’t want to deal with the bones and all that… I think I prefer the flavor of turkey though… especially the dark meat… I might get turkey legs on occasion just to have that stuff.

Can’t can’t can’t wait!..
