My brother treated me to lunch yesterday. We talked science (his field, and one I can talk intelligently too) a bit, and then he asked me some questions about philosophy. It was funny to me, being an introvert, hearing my extrovert brother sounding paranoid with the mind/body problem. He is 65yo and just now getting curious about stuff I learned 30 years ago (I am 51yo). The breakthrough for me, for both of us, is he’s showing an open mind where it’d been closed and “practical” for many years. Now, in his retirement, he can relax and consider things he’d only wondered about before. And for my part, my mental health is stabler than it’s been since probably 1988. Vraylar works for me on the positive symptoms. I can only wish everybody this kind of stability.
Good morning sir…!!!
Hey there, Nepal man! How goes it?
Haha its Lunch time here…!!! Its 2:46pm here in the afternoon…!!! Will u go back to sleep… cuz its early in the morning there…!!! How positive are u with life…!!! I am soso…!!! Neither positive nor negative…!!!
Yes, it is 2am here. I sleep badly.
So-so is okay. Everybody has those days. I had a good day yesterday. My brother is important to me.
How are your negative symptoms today?
It’s great that you’re feeling so stable. And I’m glad you have such a wonderful relationship with your brother. Since I’ve stabilized and rejoined the real world my sister and I have grown closer and she has made the comment “it’s nice to have my sister back”. I cherish my sister.
Thanks a lot.
Unfortunately, there’s more I have to face, like having the emotional age of a teenager. Yes the delusions are mostly gone, but so is my denial. I am less able to pretend that my parents are still alive. It was a self-delusion I used to feel safe. The truth is that I live alone (with a dog), and alone is alone
Well you’re in a good place to start working on your issues, so that’s good. Having the emotional age of a teenager can be overcome rather quickly in therapy. It takes work, but now that you know you want to work on it you can make a lot of progress with help. I worked hard in therapy and like feeling like an adult
And yes, I have the strength now to responsibly deal with my stuff. Thanks for saying therapy can help with it quickly. You are also right that my brother is very important for me to have.
Take care!
