Gotten a bit worse

So I was doing really well for a few months, I was seeing my friends regularly, I started school last month and was going to all my classes and doing well. But in the last week I got sick with a cold and that seemed to trigger something, maybe my immune system being compromised ■■■■■■ up my brain chemistry again, but now I feel more psychotic and anxious. I haven’t gone to class the past 2 days and I’m feeling pretty shitty mentally. I feel bad and I want to go back to class and finish my degree but it feels like a mountain that’ll be just too hard to climb. Can anyone relate or have any advice? Thanks.

Yes I just got out of a fever and it was really bad. Had to quit volunteering and school for almost a month. It is getting better now but much more slowly than before the mi. It made my negative symptoms seem worse. Got through it though and turned in my hw on time. It really sucks but it should even out eventually. Hope you get better too!

  1. if you dont nornally take vitamins then use a multi vitamin to support your immume system.

  2. if using an OTC cold medicine look at the ingredients. is diphenhydramine(benadryl) there?or any antihistamine? if anything like benadryl is being taken it will suppress the immune system. It works so well at that it can be used in liu of other perscription medicines for inflammation.

Call a pharmacy and find which cold medicine you can use with your meds and no antihistamine.

Yes, I was shocked to learn on the forum that many cold remedies can’t be used with antipsychotics.

But a cold always make me feel ten times worse too. You’ll be right as rain once you get over the cold. It’s just temporary.

Do not take an expectorant with Zoloft. Very very dangerous.

Yeah, I always feel like this after I’ve been sick.

My advice is get up, go to class tomorrow. Don’t worry about how you look or what your excuse is going to be or how much work you’ve missed or what needs to be done or how many classes until graduation or whatever. Don’t think past just getting to class.

If you’re thinking, do I have what it takes to finish this degree? your answer right now is going to be no. You’re feeling whacked out and easily defeated after an illness, you’re not feeling capable of much.

Instead ask, can I get dressed and navigate my way to the classroom and sit down at my seat? Because you can. And that’s all you can do tomorrow anyway, so don’t go worrying about the things you couldn’t do tomorrow. I promise, once you get to class, you’ll feel better. But don’t worry about whether you believe me. Just go to class.

You’re right, it’s hard when you overthink it and everything seems so much harder, but I’ll just go and take things as they come. I appreciate the advice.

Hey man, you changed your picture and name. I wouldn’t have recognized you. I’m doing alright, I took a break from the forum but I’m back now. Taking it a day at a time. What’s up with you?
