Got knocked out of my wheelchair by a protestor at Target

Had to go pick up a book I ordered (that was sold out on at Walmart and on Amazon) and there were about 2 dozen people in front of the target store protesting their acceptance policy or w/e (apparently this policy has been in effect since 93…but for some reason is only NOW and issue?)

Anyway, they were trying to block people from going into the store, and one guy grabbed my chairs handles and pushed me towards the parking lot, I bounced off a barrier pole, and then rolled off the 8 inch curb, landed on my side, and, because my back is still sore from surgery, ended up spending almost ten minutes on the ground, with people taking pictures and shooting video, but not bothering to help me or even ask if I was ok…

The guy who knocked me over? Told me it served me right for supporting a ‘pervert endorsing’ company…Once I got up, I struggled to fix my chair, this damn back brace keeps me from bending at the waist, and finally managed to get it up.

I got back into my chair, never saying a word, and once again tried to enter the store, the same guy tried to grab my chair, this time, I spun around and kicked him right in the shin, wearing steel toe boots of course (the only foot wear I have that fits after my feet swell) He went down screaming “Assault Assault!” I rolled into the store and asked for a manager. Told them what happened and they called the cops. Gave the cops the footage from the front entrance. The guy was arrested for Assaulting a disabled person, Target gave me a 50% discount on my book, which I denied, because they didn’t do it, it was some ■■■■■■■ with a stick up his backside.

I am home now, but my back is killing me, and my SZ is acting up, ebcuase now I am terrified this guys fellow protestors are gonna come after me. I’ve got the little playing in the bedroom up stairs with my GF, and I’m sitting on my couch with a 12 G shot gun loaded with birdshot, waiting for someone to be stupid enough to try something…

that sounds awful for you, i hope your ok,

just got to try and think that they were just some random assholes that don’t know who you are or where you live, they should never have assaulted you like that and the people taking pictures should be ashamed of themselves for not helping,

This is outrageous! I recommend getting a good attorney and pressing charges. Get some money from this guy. Make him PAY!

I would feel the same way you are. Know that those people are cowards. They would never track you down.

Holy crap what is wrong with people?
I hope that ass**** gets a tough judge and that the charges stick.

I think people are getting way too wound up in politics and really should just enjoy the beautiful world we live in and not get so bent out of shape about things.

Glad you were fighting back and nothing more serious injury.

Good for you for standing up for yourself. I’m working on that for myself. What the hell were those bystanders thinking by not helping you? Is that what this countries come too? It’s plain sad. If there is a Good Samaritan law where you lived I would somehow evoke it to get those bystanders in trouble. They could be on someones cell phone or something.

Sincerest condolences. I hope you are able to pursue some legal avenues to make sure the people who did this are held accountable. Not sure the gun is a great idea, however. SZ symptoms, strong emotions, and a deadly weapon do not a good combination make.

my gun got taken away :disappointed_relieved: the state troopers came to talk to me about the incident and they said until I calm down its staying in lock up…I kinda deserved it though since you know when they knocked ont he door I announced I was armed and they better not try anything…

but they are pressing charges against the guy and six of the people who videotaped it, the charges they face are failure to report a crime, which in the state of maine comes in misdeamenor and felony charges, depending on the status of the victim, I was wheelchair bound so its failure to report a crime against a disabled person, which is a class D felony…

it did not make the news, but was posted to youtube apparently but was taken down by order of the maine DA, since its a pending criminal case. someone sent me the link but the video has the ‘removed for violations’ thing up…

I do however, because of my paranoia and the fact the guy who assaulted me is part of a designated hate group based here in maine called the “Republicans of America”, they target anything that isn’t ultra conservative republican approved and react with violence if provoked even the tiniest bit…

meanwhile because I posted an angry letter on a website that talked about the incident where all they discussed was he protest being anti LGBT, and nothing about what happened to me, despite them including a link to the youtube video, I was labeled a bigot…

kinda pissed off with both repubs and democrats right now…(always have been an independent though so it doesn’t matter)

Keep a low on-line profile till this thing gets sorted out would be my advice.
