I haven’t spent much time in the forum lately but thought about sharing with you all that I got into a programming course that I had been stalking for 3 months.
It’s a free one year course, I even get paid to do it, there were, I think, more than 100 people trying to get in and only 16 remained, of which I’m one of them.
The contenders were all “normies”, and some even super “normies”. Maybe that will inspire someone here to chase what they want despite the odds.
I’ll be learning C, C++, JAVA, mySQL, PHP, VB.net, ASP.net and C#, all programming languages used to make apps, videogames, the backbones of some sites, etc… The course coordinator gave some examples of former students who were now working on videogames during the last group interview, which would be something I would probably enjoy doing
The course even has an internship at the end, which is really nice!
I don’t know the actual state of my cognitive functions, as I haven’t studied in a while, only done some coding at home. My memory feels pretty bad, but maybe it’s just a feeling. I’ve managed through the selection process and have nothing to lose, so I’ll give it a try and see if my brain can “hold the information”!
Do outro nem me contactaram a dizer se fiquei ou não ainda, já tentei ligar-lhes montes de vezes, enviei um mail e nada! E o curso em princípio começava no início da semana que passou!
Hey @coolfool that’s fantastic news! Congratulations and good luck on the course. IMO, technology is where it’s at, so studying software programming is very relevant.
Also, being a nerd myself, I’m all about increasing the number of nerds in the world.
Well done. I have an interview for a another phd coming up and im supposed to have a new proposal ready and i cant get the where with all, to focus and get a few proposals ready. I think im going to cancel the interview.
