Going to plant a huge gardent this week

We went the other day and bought a bunch of plants and seeds and are going to plant it all this coming week. Looking forward to it. I was on four interviews last week, three the week before all to no avail so I am a little depressed but maybe some sunshine and seeing how green my thumb is will perk me up? Gardening tips welcome, I have basil, parsley, tomato, zuchini and cucumber plants adn I have onion, beans, carrots for seeds. And pepper plants too. desimb

Gardening is great for the soul.
I also just planted my first homegrown-cucumbers.
Next year I hope to have a bigger kitchen garden-can`t find the time now.

Cool. I planted a couple days ago…just squash and cucumbers. And yeah, it definitely helps with depression, and is healthy for you even if you aren’t depressed.

Do you do organic gardening? Mine is…Organic soil and seeds. No chemicals of any kind.
Make sure your soil has enough calcium…I have heard a number of places there are calcium deficiencies in a lot of the soil. I grind egg shells into fine powder and add to compost…but you can also mix it with vinegar and make a solution that releases the calcium faster. And if milk ever spoils I’ll mix that with water and use it on the garden, but make sure the cats aren’t around, LOl…they will lick up spoilt milk.
I make my own compost and soil…when I buy soil, manure and humus it’s all organic.

Asparagus. Fresh corn is better than any in a store but it takes up too much room. Turn over the soil before planting and break up the clods, right?

Nothing in mine to eat.

My father planted tomatoes in a hole one foot deep. To water he poured a gallon jug of water in.
