Going to demand to have my meds lowered

I looked at one of my journals from like 6 years ago and I was doing more stuff on a lower dose of Risperdal.
I felt more connected on 2 mg and today I’m on 4mg.

My psychiatrist won’t budge.
She refuses to lower my meds or change my medications.

I think I’ll be firm with her and ask if I can start reducing slowly.

I doubt she’ll agree but I’m going to try just the same.

Wish me luck! :slightly_smiling_face:

I think there’s no harm in asking and saying you are happy to go back up a dose if you notice symptoms good luck…

@Wave like 6 years ago you were convinced your father was trying to murder you, gave away your dog,and landed in the psych ward. I don’t want to discourage you or shame you,but I hope you read far enough in your journals to remember the really bad times also.

Yeah that was 4 years ago when I went bonkers and was sent to a psych hospital twice for 5 weeks.

I’d think twice.

You’re like me in the sense that you lose insight pretty quickly.

You’ll probably feel good for a month on the lower dose and then go off the rails without realising it.

You could try switching to another med , but that’s risky as the other med might not work.

Yeah maybe you’re right @everhopeful.
Going so low could prove risky.

Don’t want to be sent back to that hell hole of a psych hospital again.

At least now at this dose I’m managing.

Thanks @everhopeful @Ninjastar

You seem to be managing quite well at your current dose. I would not risk lowering your dose at this time because you could lose insight and land in the hospital. That would not be good during the COVID-19 pandemic, so just keep that in mind if you find yourself tempted to lower your dose.

I think it’s the risperdal. I think that’s about the worst A.P.
