Poll: Should I go back up to my 4mg dose

Since lowering my Risperdal dose down to 3mg from my usual dose I’m noticing increased symptoms popping up.
I’m becoming increasingly irritable and quick to anger especially when under stress.
I’m experiencing occasional auditory and visual weirdness (not constant)
I also freaked out today when had to call a contractor come over our house.
And I’m not able to handle stressful situations as well as I used to.

Do you think I should go back up to my regular risperdal dose of 4mg?

  • Yes go back up to 4mg
  • No remain at 3mg

That’s a tough question Wave. There’s pros and cons for going back up to 4 mg.

I would say go back to 4 mg, but im no doctor.

It’s been almost 2 months since my adjustment

I dunno, maybe there’s a chance what you’re experiencing is withdrawals and it will stabilize, or not. If it turns out it never goes back to normal, and the symptoms are making you exhausted, I would go back up.

I’m not a doctor however if your having symptoms it’s probably in your best interest to get the doctor too adjust the medication

It’s been more than 2 months
It’s not withdrawals

Yeah 2 months in, the withdrawal is long gone.

It’s up to you; if you want to live with increased symptoms then stay on three. If you want some relief from symptoms then go back on four.

Yeah I don’t like the fact that I’m snapping at my father often.
I just may go up to 4mg

But I’m wondering if I should let my pdoc know

What do you think guys?
Should I contact my doctor to let her know what my intentions are as far as raising my dose back up?

It’s always the best idea to keep your doctor in the loop…

@Vertigo

I think you should always consult with your pdoc before making any changes in meds unless it’s a PRN.

Two months ago, why did your pdoc (or if you decreased the dose on your own?) decrease the dose from 4 mgs to 3 mgs?

It might be best to go back up to 4mg if you’re sure you’re not having withdrawals and you’re just having symptoms @Vertigo.

@Vertigo ,call your doctor and tell her what is going on.
In my 40s I was managing to “play” with meds, but this few years I can’t experiment any more.

It’s important to stay normal for for events in future.
You’re brother may cause you some problems, and you have to be prepared.

I was lactating a tiny bit (once)
But that was enough for me to mention the lowered dose
She agreed and had my dose lowered

Maybe she will recommend a different medication treatment approach like remain keeping me on 3mg of the Risperdal and increasing my Abilify dose to 5mg?
I don’t know?

Yes you should go to your doctor definitely

This is not true because we don’t need a psychiatrist doctor if it’s uo to ourselves.

I’m doing much better now
I’ve decided to cut my tablets in larger halves and remain on 3mg for now.
I will also take Klonopin more frequently if I have to.
If I start to unravel fast then I will contact my doctor to increase the dose.
There are just too many positives with remaining at 3mg
