Glycine therapy isnt going well

I am very upset all has failed

Have you tried sarcosine? I think you have to take a lot less of it than you have to take of glycine. Also, how long did you try the glycine?

im still on it Glycine going for 2 weeks to see any effects

Have you tried CBT for depression and negative symptoms, Jeroenp ?

Maybe you have to take the glycine longer than that to see effects, like you do with sarcosine.

I take a lot of glycine to see effects, like 3 or 4 teaspoons. However, it raises blood pressure so it can be dangerous to take that much. As long is your blood pressure is under control it’s fine. I also take some herbs to lower my blood pressure and help with my heart.

wow 3 to 4 teaspoons i go bazurk when i take that much i tried only once 1 teaspoon and i start talking fast
i take 500 grams twice daily now but i think it wears off in the afternoon so ill take it 3 times from now on 1500 mg

@frencheese yes i im trying to hold on for 2 weeks at 1500 mg daily before i quit, its hard but well see
@Andrey never tried CBT maybe thats an option too yes well see

Probably because the only form of medical treatment that is scientifically backed to work for psychosis is antipsychotics…

thats not true minocycline cured me but had dangerous side effects felt good for 2 weeks then developed ABX side effects severe ones

Thinking something cured you for 2 weeks isn’t the same as research backed peer reviewed evidence. What I am reading right now about minocycline is it is used as an adjunct to an antipsychotic to help improve the efficacy of an antipsychotic and also maybe help with negative symptoms. Glycine similarly is supposed to be used as an adjunct to try to help with negative symptoms, but I couldn’t find a single paper on its usage in treating actual schizophrenics only on people “at risk” for developing it.

Neither are supposed to be solo treatments for psychosis.

I’d like to know if doxycycline works for negative symptoms as well since I happen to be on it.

From what I am reading, doxycycline is only effective if you are found to have some sort of bacterial infection that is causing your symptoms. For example they had a case where a person was diagnosed with sz, was on antipsychotics but they didn’t work, they did medical testing and found out he had bacteria associated w Lyme disease, they gave him doxycycline and he was basically cured.

But if the psychosis isn’t bacteria based, antibiotics are not going to help you. It seems you should get medical testing done first to see if they would be beneficial or not.

I tried to get my doc to switch me to minocycline but he said “If youre developing resistance to one tetracycline another one isnt going to help you.” Hes not a pdoc though. I dont have one yet. :slightly_frowning_face:
