I bench pressed 185 lbs in high school and that’s not even that much. 9 months after getting out of the hospital when I was in my early twenties I was working at a health spa. My boss ordered 10 bags of rock salt for a jacuzzi on the second floor. A truck dropped them off in back of the building. Each bag weighed a 100 lbs. It was my job to pick up one bag at a time, bring it through a hallway and up a flight of stairs to the second floor. I brought up all ten bags but boy was that hard!
No, it’s not true - you’ll lose definition (and/or bulk) eventually, but it won’t magically convert to flab unless you continue with the same diet - body builders consume very high calorie diets when they’re working out 5-7 days a week and then when they stop, they might continue eating the same amounts so yes, they can get fat as a result. I can’t remember what an ex partner of mine was eating but it was something like twice or more of the recommended amount for an average person; not a chance he’d get fat because he was at the gym all day. But then he packed on a few when he stopped and was still eating a whole chicken for dinner lol
77nick77, I have just always liked to lift heavy things. Not sure why. Definition probably would be better. It would be fun to be strong. I used to have a bit of muscle when I was working and I really enjoyed it, but I lost all that when I got sick with schizophrenia. I want it back.
Peavy, wow! 200lbs! back when I had muscle I could lift tanks of compressed gas that were as tall as my chin
I have no idea what they weighed but they were pretty hefty.
I was raised hard working. Coming from the backwoods thats kinda all I knew.
Firemonkey, oh well, maybe I’ll just have a nice amount of muscle then. I didn’t realize that I’d probably need to do that. I’m sticking to the natural way of doing things. Still I will try as hard as I can and hopefully I will at least look slightly impressive
Also lol as much as I would love to write my name in the snow I’d prefer not to have a small ■■■■■. You are hilarious.
I always liked lifting heavy things too. I was always strong. I got sick when I was 19 in 1980 I lost some of my strength after that. I entered college in 1990 and took weight training. And I got a couple physical jobs. And I got pretty strong again . I unloaded trucks at Sears for 4 years. This included taking refrigerators, washers and dryers, gas grills, lawn mowers off of trucks. I excelled at that job. I looked at all the heavy lifting as a challenge and I got very confident with my strength.
Green6 Thanks, I’m going to try as hard as I can. I like to be different, and to open my own pickle jars, haha. This is giving me something positive to do, which I really need. It is helping with my mood to have a goal to work towards. I can already feel a muscle in there, it is awesome. You can’t see it yet though. So excited!
I wasn’t talking about gaining weight. But when you have big muscles + then quit weightlifting forever or a long time.
Pob the only thing I can think of is that if you had extreamely huge muscles if you stopped lifting completely the skin might not shrink back. You might need surgery to remove the extra skin.
Yeah, that must be it.
77nick77 Wow you must have been in great shape!
I am pretty jacked if I might say
I follow German volume training, just worked biceps and triceps today. I take protein and carbohydrate supplements as well as a preworkout (stimulant drink)
I used to powerlift. I lifted 505 for six reps on a trap bar when I was 169 lbs. I had too much free time.
Its not easy to look like a model or lift like a monster
Mortimermouse Wow 505lbs! I have a lot of free time too. I need things to do. This will be so fun!
Yeah, I was. And I was in my thirties! Working alongside teenagers and twenty year olds. Pulling my own weight and most of theirs.
I can lift more than a house made of bricks ,
the house cant lift!
german volume so your doing 10 sets per exercise?
yeah ten sets of ten reps for most exercises
