Getting some catatonia

I had catatonia when unmedicated. Since a few hours I feel mild catatonia freezing and not moving with tense body and head muscles. I remember sarcosine worsened my catatonia but stopped taking that long time ago. I am still tense mainly my head. I hope it goes away by to tomorrow. If it doesnt I am telling my psychiatrist.

Its like stupor. My mouth sometimes stays open and is tense. Its like locked and cant move.

I feel that my brain is tense too but no headache.

Catatonia and stupor are associated with schizophrenia but they rarely occure. I read some users here had catatonia.

Thanks @BrianTex

I just read that NMDA antagonists are used for catatonia and sarcosine is an NMDA agonist. Thats why it worsened my catatonia.

Though I am not on it now so I dont know why its happening.

Sorry that’s happening @Aziz . I hope you shake it off soon.

I had dp/dr and I would just chain smoke for hours for years. life was fake and I believed it. Closest I was to catatonia.

I went talking to my parents and it got better. I remember on Latuda it happened when I was alone only bcz I dont want ppl to see me act weird by freezing. When unmedicated I would freeze infront of ppl and my mother was yelling and hitting me to make me respond to the environment.

Weed made catatonia a lot worse. Glad that I dont need that crap anymore.

hope it passes soon dude

I have catatonia all the time but its not full blown catatonia instead some part of me in stuck states and and other parts I can move. I think its due to low dopamine. Dopamine boosting things helps to relieve catatonia. So medications might be one reason, it might be lowering dopamine too much. Partial dopamine agonists like abilify had improved your catatonia previously so it has something to do with dopamine system.

I had catatonia as a consequence of my taking an overdose of a NMDA-antagonist drug called memantine. I was lying on the floor doing repetitive movements with one of my arms, and I just could not muster the will power (or motivation) to stop. They found me in a pool of sweat, and I was in intensive care.

Memantine and amantadine is used for treating catatonia. May be its due to overdose.

Yes I have that kind of issue due to OCD. If I keep washing again and again I reach a point where its extremely hard to stop washing.

There is a way to check it. Keep saying in mind 1, 1, 1, 1 etc for some 20 times or more then it becomes extremely hard to stop saying it. Even if stop saying it 1 repeats in mind.

The test was negative for me. That’s to be expected as I don’t usually have a problem with OCD. However, I have experienced a few episodes of OCD, in response to stimulant drugs (in particular ethylphenidate): I just could not stop writing in my diary, even though I was writing about quitting and going for a walk.
