Why no ones talks about it here? I had it when off meds, but now on meds instead of freezing sometimes my thinking becomes extremely slow. Off meds I would freeze without movement or thoughts for an hour. I dont even move my eyes, I fix and stare at one point for an hour.
I think it’s fairly rare, that’s why no one talks about it. I have never had it myself.
Welcome back @Bowens
Haha, thanks. Been sleeping most of the day.
Yea I do experience catatonic like symptoms. Not severe as chronic patients, but I can’t move my muscles and have zero thoughts.
Dopamine reversing supplements help for me.
Yea but LDopa made my positive symptoms worse. No way out.
Maybe try less potent stuff like tricylic antidepressants?
Dr won’t prescribe antidepressants.
I really couldn’t move around or be active in anyway till I tried lions mane supplements…
Perhaps natural alternatives?
I tried that, didn’t help. I gave up on supplements, wasted lots of money. My psychiatrist told me they’re useless and can interact with meds.
I experienced catatonia before my first episode. I thought someone had put a curse on me and was trying to kill me. I was on campus and froze couldn’t move for some time and then I walked to get a cab and it happened again… it was scary… it hasn’t happened since on meds though… sometimes my thoughts are slow … and it kind makes me feel stupid when talking to people… or trying to remember simple words…
Initally, even on meds I would go catatonic for long periods. That’s how I got the original disorganized schizophrenia diagnosis.
That’s impressive, you’re really mentally ill, I’m glad you’re here!
The Amyloban 3399 has really worked for me, it lets me get by on a lower dose of APs and worked wonders for nerve pain (old injuries), which was completely unexpected. Tried going completely off APs and using just Amyloban at pdoc’s suggestion and it didn’t fly. Also tried cheaper version of lion’s mane, but only the Amyloban works. My pdoc has been recommending it to other patients with mixed results.
Yeah sometimes the cheaper ones contain shiitake mushrooms, which totally turns me off.
But is Amyloban 3399 just the extract of the two activating ingredients from the mushroom?
I have catarone schizophrenia When off meds I freeze for some periods of time. Or I move and walk very slow. Once a car got angry I was walking too slow across the street. It was very frustrating but no fight with the driver. Having my mind empty of toughts happens also to me. But Latuda really helps me.
I never tried supplements for it. I am taking just D vitamins and Magnesium.
Im catatonic a lot, is there something you need help with about it??
Will answer this in on-topic thread for the product.
Yeah, is it really rare? Would yoga help? I don’t know how to be more active. My symptoms like lack of initiative and lack of motivation only improve my catatoni. I wish I could be more active and loose weight and experience new things.
I had mild catatonia before I was diagnosed and medicated. I would stare at the floor, while in the passenger seat of the car, and I just would zone out… I wouldn’t move at all. It happened when I was sitting on the couch, too. Or at the dinner table. Hubby would try to break my “trance” and I would eventually look at him, but I was in a fog. I felt disconnected from everything.
I’ve never had a full-blown catatonic episode that lasted for hours. That sounds scary.
