My sisters wedding is finally here, it will be on Saturday and I’m flying up early Friday. I spent this morning preparing and tying up some loose ends before I go. I got my covid and flu shot this morning, the bad news is it probably won’t help me if I get covid from the airport or the wedding, it takes at least two weeks to kick in. But I got it done.
I also returned some items from Amazon at the UPS store and returned some clothes at the big and tall store and got refunds. I found travel size deodorant in Safeway while getting my vaccines. I also went to Walgreens and picked up my meds and then stopped at the credit union. ATM and withdrew $300 cash to have on me while I’m up there.
I came home and emptied all the trash out of my studio and ate some food in the refrigerator because it would have gone bad while I was gone for three days. I got my boarding pass on my phone and transferred it to my Apple wallet. And to top it all off I’m doing two loads of laundry right now. Whew, busy day.
I’m 64 but I’ve never flown alone before so I’m trying to learn everything about it so it goes smoothly when I get to the airport. I thank ChatGPT for giving me information about what to do once I get to the airport. It’s probably not as complicated as I think it is. Oh well, the clothes need to go in the dryer right now and then I’ll fix dinner and go to bed early. I leave for the airport at 6:00 am. Who knows, I might actually have a good time up in Oregon! Here’s hoping.
You’ve been busy. Yeah every time I flew it was with a girlfriend and they just told me what to do. Yeah I’d be a little scared the first time alone too. Good luck, enjoy your trip.
Thanks @LilyoftheValley, I’m not really scared of the actual flying. I’m just nervous about what to do and where to go once I get dropped off by the uber and I’m inside the airport. After all, they say you’re more likely to be killed on the way to the airport then to die on the plane.
I would locate my airline’s check-in counter and ask them if I have everything I need before proceeding to security. You’re not checking any bags, you already have your boarding pass (so I don’t see a need to check-in at the kiosk), so you should be good. But ask at the desk to be sure.
After going through security, you look for a monitor. It will have your airline, flight number, gate number, departure time, city that you’re travelling to, and it will tell you if it’s on time or delayed.
Then just go to the gate, kick back, relax, go to the restroom if you need to (never leave your bag unattended), and enjoy !!
I hope you enjoy Oregon. Bend is about four hours from the coast so I hope you could see it. I grew up in a little town on the coast. Truly beautiful part of the country. Maybe try and see otters, beavers and sea lions. Eat huckleberries and salt water taffy. You’ll love it.
