Getting frustrated with blood sugar

I was able to get my blood sugar down to 150 this morning. So I figured I was ok to eat some breakfast. We had some raisin bran. I knew the raisins might take blood sugar up some, but figured it would be a reasonably healthy breakfast.

Well, all I can say is ■■■■ ■■■■ ■■■■.

My blood sugar is 347 now. My body is so ■■■■■■ up.

I’m so disheartened right now.

I see a diabetic nutritionist in a couple weeks. If I live that long.

I mean , wtf am I supposed to do? Go to the hospital every time I eat anything of substance?

I can’t give you medical advice and am not a nutritionist.

But I did have gestational diabetes.

Straight up,

I ate nothing but “raw” foods.

If it didn’t grow out of the ground or come straight from an animal,

I couldn’t eat it.

Got things very under control but it suuuucked.

You may have to do something drastic like that.

I don’t know.

I fear you are right. Broccoli and brussel sprouts may be my future for awhile.

I had some yesterday. When I did my diet for about 8 months I didn’t eat sugar and ate very low carb. My a1c went down to 5.1%

I feel for you @Bowens i could never get control of my bloody sugar during pregnancy.

In the end I gave up and ate what I wanted. Believe me I did try.

I’m not sure what your figures are in the UK but my blood sugar got as high as a 12.

I also didn’t realise how ill it was making me feel too until it went away after pregnancy.

Blood sugar and diabetes is worse than it sounds if I was you I’d go get it checked out I’m not trying to scare you :hugs::hugs::hugs: also some health advice don’t eat too much fruit and leave fruit juice alone avoid sweets like chocolate and candy

Did you ever try supplementing chromium? It can possibly help normalise blood sugar.

Every night I woke up at like 2am because the baby was very active during that particular time.

Anyway,

I’d treat myself for sticking to this diet and carrying this freaking baby by having exactly one sugar free chocloate.

We all know that ■■■■ doesn’t taste like real candy.

That was the ONLY treat I was allowed.

The diet sucks,

But you have to get this under control.

It’s not an option.

You’re looking at possible medical complications coming up (unlikely, but possible),

You need to have everything else in working order to combat anything like that.

I just ate raw veggies dipped in a little olive oil, vinegar ( I realize that doesn’t come from an animal or grow) with a little pepper. Not even salt.

Some fruit.

That one candy.

A little meat.

Never red meat.

It’s not fun at all.

But you can do it.

(Not telling you to do that diet, just telling you what I had to do)

No. I have tried a couple things to try to normalize blood sugar. Cinnamon and such.

Yes supposedly and I’m not a doctor but cinnamon is supposedly good for blood sugar and has a lot of different health benefits however if your on diabetic meds make damn sure to take them

Well, I haven’t tried it myself as my blood sugar is ok, but I know it’s one of the first things one ought to try within supplements for bloodsugar. It’s a mineral used by the body, so it should be well tolerated.

I’m sorry but bran flakes are surprisingly high in sugar. They don’t advertise it but it has a lot of added sugar. Plus with milk you are over the serving of carbohydrate for a diabetic. It would not be a cereal I would recommend to consume unless your sugar is super low. I hope you can get it back down. I’m very glad you are seeing a nutritionist soon. They will help.

I’m just putting random ideas but there’s sugar free candy and if you like pancakes there are no sugar added maple syrup also chocolate has some designed for diabetics my brother and dad eat them its healthier than say a womderbar and I’ve had it it’s really good

Sorry if im overwhelming you with ideas lol :joy: im running out of ideas but i will say ketchup and bbq sauce is supposedly high in sugar

It’s not just about sugar, it is also about carb control as carbohydrates ultimately break down into sugar. Pancakes are very carb heavy, so it’s not really something a diabetic can eat a lot of.

My breakfast :fried_egg: of choice is 1 boiled egg, 1/2 cup of plain oatmeal with cinnamon, scoop of plain nonfat Greek yogurt and 1/2 a banana. I’ve not really found a cereal other than oats that is diabetic friendly. If you know one I’d try it.

Thanks everybody. Feeling kind of drowsy. Think I’ll go back to sleep and hope something kicks in to lower my blood sugar by the time I wake up.

I’ll probably respond to further comments later on. Thanks again.

This also means no sodas, diet or otherwise

Yes even without the added sugar cereals are very high in carbs. They’re basically bread
