I posted about my blood sugar being out of whack lately. Have been tracking the levels past week and they’re stupid.
Before tracking I had a reading of 235 one day, that spurred me to track. Today I started with a fasting of 142, ate and 30 min or so after eating it was 255! Wasn’t even carb heavy.
I have a doc appt on Wednesday, they’ll probably order bloodwork which I’ll do Thursday or Friday morning.
I haven’t had sugar for 6 days and am drinking mostly water with some flavored water. Have had 1 diet pepsi and 2 sugar free energry drinks in that time.
I feel really bad for you. diabetics have a hard time and it is so dangerous to have high blood sugar levels…hope you get it figured out with your doctor.
No. My doctor thought my hypoglycemia could indicate pre-diabetes. The high levels and symptoms are really recent. I started feeling weird and having a lot of headaches about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I felt weird and thought my sugar was low again, took it and it was high which is really odd for me.
It honestly sounds like my readings during certain periods of time during my diabetic journey. For awhile it seemed like, no matter what I ate, I still would lose control of blood sugar. I resorted to not eating for long periods of time to try to get/keep blood sugar down. It’s probably not sustainable to do this over the long term though. My blood sugar is better now on 3 diabetic drugs but I am still not satisfied with my readings. I think I should be on insulin. My doc may be satisfied with an A1C around 8, but frankly, I’m not. I’m not willing to accept eventual damage from high blood sugars when it seems preventable.
I know. My mom was a brittle diabetic and I cared for her when she became very disabled. She died thanks to complications. All the women in my family except for me(until now) have been diabetic or borderline
.
My husband and son are diabetics. So have a lot of experience.
Well, I used to need 3 meds for diabetes. I took Metformin, glipizide, and a shot I forget the name of. It sucked. I hope you get whatever treatment you need.
I’m really confused on your comments because its as if you are saying the things I already said before? I know I may have diabetes. I said that. I also said hypoglycemia could be prediabetes.
Did you read the previous comments? Especially the one where I said I have a lot of experience with diabetes?
Well, later today I see the doctor. Already have bloodwork from an ER trip Monday night. My levels all Monday were wild. My best buddy online and my husband convinced me to go get looked at. I had a 100 point drop in 20 minutes!
My levels skyrocket and plummet rapidly during the day. I have bad symptoms and feel sick and weird.
I got my A1C back Tuesday and it’s not crazy high, it’s 7.3, but over 6.5 i dicated diabetes.
I am concerned because of sudden onset, wild fluctuations, and the strong symptoms. All of that points to possibly type 1, not 2.
My milder symptoms began after my recent covid infection and there’s been some link between onset of type 1 diabetes and covid. I’ll have to have tests to determine the type.
