Genealogy is fun

Today I found out all sorts of fun stuff about my family tree.

Turns out I am distant relation to King James 1 of Scotland.

I am just flabbergasted.

I also found out the reason my part of the family went to become poor is because…

A Duke’s daughter ran off to marry a Scottish clan chief who decided to become a possible pirate and tavern owner in the colonies.

What the heck.

That is really interesting family tree story. My family on my father side has a family tree record, too. It used to be a gentry family however nothing legendary. My mother’s origin is more humble. Her family doesn’t even have a family tree record.

I’ve gone back to 1380. That’s where my tree ends.

It’s been a dang soap opera or something in my head today. So fun.

But it turns out that someone listed the one Countess wrong. She was NOT granddaughter to the king. But her father and grandfathers were still earls and dukes. Pretty cool storiesI read.

One guy, Archibald Campbell, was beheaded for treason against England.

And this is as far as i can go back. 1347. Guy abducted a woman to force her to marry him and started a war.

Ya it is. Found out I’m not even Polish.

That’s funny because my husband found out he is half Polish.

I found out through that ancestry test that I’m 41% Scottish. Pretty cool! Idk how accurate that is though. I imagine some of that could be Irish, too.

I am using my husband’s account because he did the dna test. But on his tree i am listed and can search.

Oh fun! I love genealogy too. I hope this doesn’t give my identity away but I’m technically related to the Dionne Quintuplets.

I don’t think it would. They’d have to do a lot of digging and then some crazy mental leaps.

I can’t sleep and dug back to the 1100s. Wow.

Haha! Very true Zombie Mom.

I found this wild YouTube channel the other day that reviews super extreme and underground horror movies. A lot of them I’ve seen, but there was quite a few that looked too much for me.

Neat! I don’t do extreme horror any more.

This is the oldest info in my history, lists a guy from 1169 getting lands.

Our family tree had a German prince from the 15th century. We even found his official family crest.
