Gastric Bypass or Mounjaro?

In reference to my latest post here with medications and weight :
Help advice regarding weight gain

I am considering taking action to lose weight and want to ask if anyone tried gastric bypass or Mounjaro(Trizepatide) ?

Which is more safe and effective in losing weight for our condition ?

Thanks

I have been on Mounjaro for months now.
I’ve lost quite a bunch of weight but more importantly it has reversed my diabetes and normalized my cholesterol and triglyceride counts.
It’s a powerhouse of a drug.
I would try out the Mounjaro before jumping to gastric bypass surgery
Good luck with whatever you choose

This is recent weight loss
I’ve lost close to 47 pounds since my weight loss journey began 3 years ago.
I initially lost a good amount of weight initially on Ozempic but for me personally Mounjaro is much more effective.

I started out with Saxenda (liraglutide) for 2 years then Mounjaro for 1 year. Went from 298 lbs to 147 lbs (i got to 142 but have gained some back since discontinuing the Mounjaro). I suggest you try the Mounjaro first, and if that doesn’t work, then try gastric bypass. Good luck…

Yes constipation unfortunately can be a side effect of this medication
Tell your prescribing doctor about it they may recommend you use a gentle laxative.
It also could be temporary

My aunt had her stomach stapled and now she lost too much and has baggy skin all over that may need operation

She can only eat very small amounts of food and cannot enjoy eating much of anything

None, take a more weight neutral medicine , using more medicine or treatment to treat your weight gain and you will end up being a zombie or getting other side effects

gastric bypass too invasive imo
