I donā€™t really have any friends, mentally ill or otherwise.

None of my friends are mentally ill. They are all normies.

Thatā€™s sad. Maybe you should join some group or classes to make friends.

Had some friends with, but lost contact.

yes it is hard to have normal friends because of the symptoms, the stigma and the high sensitivity.

No.maybe. not yet?

I mean if I really pressed them I could go to group to see if there would be anyone there. yes I know slim chance ā€¦

I dont think I should go yet. Depression makes me very negative and I would just mess it all up. What they are giving me is not working.

My bf has a mental illness and is also hears voices, although not diagnosed sz. Other than that heā€™s the only one. I donā€™t have many friends though, and the ones I do have are mostly only still in my life because they were friends with me before my mental illness got pretty bad.

My ex gf has sz all we ever did was argue. Most my friends have mental illness. All of them except 1 friend

What did you argue about if I may ask?

Iā€™d like to meet a girl with schizophrenia. Although itā€™s hard because the onset is typically later for girls. So if he take me as a model, where you get ill, struggle for 5 years then recover. Hard set to find a girl in my age range who has recovered from psychosis.

Because even the bipolar, drug atticā€˜s, with terrible home lifeā€¦ I still feel their struggles donā€™t compare. Not saying we have it worse, we just have it so different. There still Normieā€™s to me. Even if they have all those things against them. I know that sounds wrong But they just seem like their normal when I donā€™t feel I was ever normal

Yes definatley. All my mates are mentally ill in one way or another, from bi-polar , adhd, bpd, and another friend who is also Sz. all of them are drinkers tho as we all know each other from the local bar! Most of us are not ā€œnormiesā€ in that pub! It actually helps knowing them - you can tell them youā€™ve had a bad day over a beer with them, and they dont judge you just give you friendly support.

Iā€™m in the same type of crowds. If theyā€™re not sz theyā€™re adhd.

I have about 6 friends and they are all mentally ill, mostly with schizophrenia. I have both parents and their mates and a brother nearby who are normal.

I only have family but they donā€™t really understand mental illness so the only people I can even talk about it is my doctor and here

No, I canā€™t handle being friends with most mentally ill people at this point. I had a friend who had borderline personality disorder and she turned on me one day because I didnā€™t like her facebook posts often enough and it affected me very badly. I had a huge setback. Later she wanted to be friends again and itā€™s just like no, I canā€™t deal with this. I canā€™t handle getting attacked and getting worse because of her issues. Thatā€™s a luxury I donā€™t have.

My sister has some sort of mood issue and just her being in the house right now is hurting me terribly. She gets angry and stomps around or sheā€™s depressed and leaves messes everywhere and expects me to take care of her dog. I canā€™t deal with it.
