You guys who have health insurance shouldnt begrudge the system so much. I live in ireland and this country has free healthcare. BUT, any time i try to get admitted to a psych hospital here, my psychiatrist gives me the 3rd degree why i shouldnt be admitted as psychiatrists here are always trying to save money for the state. Theyre penny pinchers. Thus, it is hard to get admitted. F*ck them.
When i had private health insurance 15 years ago, it was so easy to get admitted. Private hospitals welcomed you with open arms. Back then it was nice to get therapy so easy.
People in Canada can’t get access when they need it. A friend couldn’t get in to see a doctor in time and his cancer was terminal by the time they caught it. People are dying after spending half a day in ER waiting rooms and not being seen. Our provincial guidelines say you shouldn’t have to wait more than two years for a knee replacement. It’s now three and a half years for my mother-in-law and the chances are that they screwed up by bouncing her between specialists for so long that the knees are now likely inoperable.
People who require very specialized surgery aren’t getting it:
Most people in America have crap health insurance that doesn’t cover much with crazy deductible, You can still get treatment for emergency surgery by law, but you will still end up having medical debt.
