Healthcare in the US is depressing

I pay out the a$$ for blue cross blue shield AND medicare but recently had to pay out of pocket a full bill because " dr doesnt take medicare and they have to bill medicare first so cant get other insurance to pay for it" like really? I have two expensive health insurances and its still not covered? Now my cholesterol is sky high and guess what medicare doesnt cover annual physicals like wtf? I dont even know what to do at this point 2 insurances and sh!ts still not getting covered fuk this country

I feel sorry for Americans. We have it good here in Canada.

No crap!

Freedom?

My mom was free but she worked morning or afternoon shifts as a short fry cook with no benefits and very few raises for 18 years for a thankless small ma and pop operation but she was free.

When I was working and had insurance that I paid out the nose for yet hardly anything was covered. I was also free.

I thank the veterans for their service but from what I hear they get screwed over too.

Does your state offer any programs that could supplement Medicare or do you make too much?

Right now medicare is supplemented but my Mom and i pay around 500$ for blue cross blue shield but we need it for our meds it just pisses me off when i have two insurances and neither will pay soon we will be paying 700+ dollars for health insurance a month

My photographer BFF is dying terminal from cancer. Would have been treatable if it had been caught in time, but everything got shut down for COVID. People were denied needed scans, beds, etc. because health care system was clogged with antivaxxers who should have been put dead last in triage - they chose that ■■■■. Canadian health care is nice when you can get access to it. That’s increasingly difficult.

True that. I do not like seeing people die who try to get better. But those people had tons of info to actually get the shots. Nope! Our snake handling beliefs will protect us.

Overall im grateful to live in the US and ive been helped a long ways its just stressful navigating healthcare sometimes

I think you need a Medicare “denial”, to give to the secondary insurance company. Not sure but try going to the Medicare website or calling them and download the right form and submit your claim, Then months from now when you get the denial from medicare you submit the claim to your secondary.

I think that will work. It’s tedious but it is real money.

That sucks big time. Sorry to hear about your issues

For what it’s worth, universal healthcare we have here is not that great, but having financial penalties for ill health is not helpful at all

I hope you can get something resolved on this

Try not to lose hope

I’ve never had health care issues. I have medicare and medicaid. At least you are an adult and well enough to do something about it. You could just let yourself lose your mind and let people care for you but I wouldn’t recommend it.

That’s really expensive! In Belgium healthcare is heavily sponsored through taxes.

The VA is free. But when I use my insurance, I have Medicare and Tricare for life. I usually don’t owe anything either. No copays. My wife just has Tricare and she has copays. I used to have just that too. We have our prescription plan with Tricare too and meds aren’t expensive. But again I get most of mine free from the VA.

When I first got out of the military the VA wasn’t free. There were copays and meds were $8 a bottle. But once you get rated with a service connected disability everything is free. I am a 100% disabled veteran. I even get free dental care. Only 100% disabled veterans get that.

That sounds bad. I’m pretty fortunate in that I get quite a bit of free health care where I am. It’s probably not fair, but I’m not going to turn it down. I’m hoping I start to get more exercise and take better care of my health. … There is a female politician named Tulsi Gabbard who is very much behind the idea of free health care for all Americans. You might be familiar with her. She ran for the Democratic nomination for president. She plans to pay for it by stopping America from getting into so many overseas wars. They do cost a lot. Also, a lot of left leaning politicians are in favor of taxing the top corporations in America. They say the top 150 corporations in America do not pay any taxes. That could yield a lot of money. Another way we could get money is by legalizing drugs and taxing them. Legalizing drugs could produce money in so many different ways. Legalizing drugs is analogous to the legalization of alcohol after prohibition in that we would still get hurt by drugs, but it would be possible to greatly lessen the bad effects of drugs if we legalized them. Drive by shootings would go away. We wouldn’t have to pay to lock people up for selling and using drugs. So much of the property theft in the U.S. comes from people trying to support their drug habits.

Since being on Medicare I personally have been mostly satisfied with what they cover. I can only speak for my own experiences to this point though.

I have had no major surgeries or anything though. Just tests mostly and ER visits for tests.

I’m thinking my right eye might have the beginnings of a cataract though and am a bit concerned over what they may or may not cover in the event of surgery to correct.

I have a eye appointment to check out stuff on sept 8th, one month from now.
