Found out today I have a lazy eye

It’s mild but that’s why I don’t have clear vision in my right eye even with glasses. I had never been told that before. Before I had lasik, I know my right eye was way worse than my left eye. I’m surprised I never was told to wear a patch growing up.

I’m surprised they let you have lasik. When one eye is weaker they should be reluctant to do surgery for fear of screw up.

I had an operation when I was a kid and they screwed up the operation, but it was the 1970s…

No Lasik for me as a rule as I’m dependent on one eye.

Yeah. I used to have really bad eyesight. I mean really bad. I’m glad I got lasik because now I have mild strength lenses in my glasses. My right eye is still worse than my left eye but it’s not horrible. With glasses my right eye is 20/50, so that’s not terrible.

I think I am +6 in my left eye and it doesn’t matter what my right eye is. It’s looking somewhere else and my brain blocks it automatically.

If you have a plus lens your eye seems bigger and I hate that about glasses. I am literally a Mr. Magoo with my shaved head and small spectacles

Lazy eyes here too. Three operations as a kid. Couldn’t correct. Have double vision. I use one eye for near sight and the other eye for far sight. My lazy eyes are very noticeable.

That sucks @ThePickinSkunk. Mine is mild and just makes my right eye a bit blurry.

I have mild lazy eye, left one. Dr said its not worth a surgery as its not really noticeable. I had Lasik in my left eye, no more glasses and my vision is very good since the operation in 2016 but not excellent.

@LilyoftheValley

I had a lazy eye as a kid. I can’t remember if I wore a patch or if it was the next step. Mine reversed itself. I hope this encourages you.

What causes lazy eyes?

Weak muscles. Straining your eyes. Other causes maybe.

After the surgery I was blind for a week. Walking in a dark house hasn’t scared me since.

Thank you Trish. It was so long ago though. Basically they gave up and told my mom to have me live with it.

Glad you are on the mend. Missed your Whoop Whooping. :grinning:

Can I get a WHOOP WHOOP?

Suggest taking away its TV and grounding it until it catches up with the other eye.

I have a lazy eye. I wore a patch. I had 5 eye surgeries when I was a kid. I woke up during one of them. I remember it to this day and I was very little, but it made an impression. Finally after the last surgery I went to see a specialist to learn eye exercises to strengthen the muscles in my eyes, I had to do those all the time. But to this day if I am sick or tired my lazy eye will show up.

What do you mean @shutterbug?

Sorry, bad joke. It’s the thought that counts, right?

I tend to get mildly cross-eyed if I take off my glasses for too long, but I’ve never had that problem before I started wearing them 10 years ago
