For Those Who Served In The Military

I was reading a couple of @kindness’s posts and saw that he goes to the VA. This got me to thinking and I just wanted to say to @kindness and all the military people who served on here, “Thank you for your service”.

@disciple

Thank you.

The U.S. military doesn’t hate what’s in front of them, they just love what’s behind them.

I spent four years in the army from 1977-81. There are a lot of hardships in military life. A lot of those guys spend years away from their family. A lot of them have spent a good part of their lives stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They deserve a lot of respect.

I was a bachelor’s prepared R.N. in the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corp. from 1987- 1989. During peacetime. I worked mostly on the surgical floor. But, I floated to the medical floor, the stroke rehab floor, to orthopedics, to oncology, to postpartum, to the emergency room, to the special care unit which was like the ICU, and I even took care of the neonates once. I really don’t know how I did it. The hand of God was upon me. He always has been, all of my life. Here I was, sza, on no medications, and taking care of patients. Go figure.

Thank you for your service. It must have been hard to do that without medication.

I respect the military service. My grandfather was a P.O.W. in WW II and my brother is in Afghanistan right now on a contract job. I worry about him. It’s the third time he’s been over there. the first time he was in the Air Force.

It was! It was hell! Being a nurse is hard on anybody but to a sz, it is many thousands of times harder. I had a hell of a time. I worked in nursing for ten years. My pdoc says that I accomplished the impossible.

It was very hard! My pdoc says that I accomplished the impossible.

You deserve a lot of respect. Not many people could have done what you did. Being a nurse without schizophrenia must be hard enough, but being a nurse with schizophrenia must be terrifically difficult.
