Hi peeps,

Just curious to know about your experiences with depot/LAI:

  • Does the injection hurt?

  • Are side effects different/more pronounced for you?

  • What are the pros/cons of the injection for you?

-And:

On a scale of 0-5 (5 being the worst), how bad does receiving the depot hurt?

The injection isn’t terrible at all.

Especially if you opt for the butt not the arm.

Side effects are the same I think.

The pros of the injection are that you obviously don’t have to take medication every day,

But they do tend to like “run out” a little too early every month.

I’d have a couple dark days before my depot the entire time I was on it.

Generally, I’d say it’s the way to go if you’re in long term.

Something to know about the injection though,

It takes a minute.

Like an actual minute.

That’s like a ton of medicine they’re putting in your body, so it’s not like a flu shot.

It doesn’t hurt,

It’s just kind of weird and something I was unprepared for first time I got it.

My pdoc has prescribed my injection every 3 weeks instead of every 4 because of it pooping out early.

Mine did too,

But that made my anxiety worse, so I just had to suffer the two days.

It was a decent exchange.

My experience between pills and injections was that I got more side effects from pills than the injection

It doesn’t typically hurt me but I’ve had it happen sometimes where it hurt more than usual

I get the Invega Trinza injection. It doesn’t hurt too much but sometimes it hurts more for some reason. My arm is sore for a few days after the shot. I think it gives me tremors but I don’t get them often. I don’t notice it wearing off early.

Funnily enough, its doesnt hurt, when im having it shoved in. Its always a delayed pain, a couple of days later. Currently got a recovering dead leg because of it.

Not enough meat on my arse :stuck_out_tongue:

I voted one. There can be a little discomfort. It’s actually after getting the injection that it may hurt for a few days. I often had a sore buttocks when walking and whatnot for awhile.

For me, sometimes it hurts at a 2.5, sometimes it’s less than a 1.

The pain comes after as injection site pain. Your shoulder will hurt.

If it’s a 3 month depot it will sting a bit cuz of the large volume.

But it’s def worth it.

Less pills and less hassle.
